I can't post the thing in this post because I'm at school but if you go into a post in the ut forum about "if anyone needs their maps tested" there is a version (though not quite the latest but close to) of it. The idea is to make it appear as if your playing in a sphere hence it's name CTF Sphere. There will be 6 areas the 2 bases and then 4 hubs that are between the two. From each base 4 short halls will emmerge from the base in each different direction (north south east west). Those each connect to a room and then another hall to connect it to the other base. Each room between the bases will be connected with the two next to it. I'm planning on using zone portals to accomplish this. It's hard to explain.

k First problems in it. When you tell me how to fix these please give me step by step insturctions or enough so that there is no way I can screw up.

1)I have several windows in my map. For some reason unkown to me you can fly through them. How do I fix that?
2)There is a reactor core in the level i wanta make it so that when you run into it you die, can't figure it out.
3)there may be other issues but they either don't show up ingame or i haven't found them yet.

K now ideas. My last map sucked cuz I only concentrated on layout but this one I decided the general layout and started going from there so that it wouldn't seem so empty. I've been doing a good job but I still need ideas. Especally for that huge room with the flag in it. I've already been told that I should put lights around the windows on the walls any more idea on how that should be done are appricated.

Can't help you unless you actually post a map but I'll try with what i can...
1.Windows...are you sure you're not using non solids for glass in the windows?
2.Zone the area around the reactor and make it a kill zone
3. Like I said post the map.

I'm pretty sure that the glass is solid. I thought that and so I checked to make sure by making a new window and you can still fly right through it. Is it because it's transparent or a zone portal?

When I try to make the zone around the core, I use a brush. I made a non solid invisible zone portal out of an octogon. When i added it one of the surfaces it connected to dissappeared like there was a bsp hole there. There was once when there was a zone around it with the info thing in it, and it still didn't kill you. Instead when you tried to jump out of the water in a different map you'd die!

I'll try to find the map I've posted it somewhere I think it was in the UT forum. The only difference between that one and the latest version is I added the jumpad and some stuff in one room that was really empty.

YOur link just leads me back to this thread??
Windows should not be zone portals. If you want to zone them out use a seperate sheet as portal aside from the solid glass.
The laser thing try using a cube as opposed to an octagon, that might help, or use sheets instead and see what happens.
And just attach the map to your next post, it can't be that big!!

OK nevermind I found the map. I figured out your glass issues...why are you using zone protals for glass? Simply add a solid or semi solid for glass(make the piece so it doesn't completely fit ie if the opening is 48x48 make piece 46x46 and then add a sheet as a zone portal if you want to zone it out tho in your case there is no need to.
I'm not sure what's up with the bridge up top. I tired adding an invisible collision hull and then a sheet with the mask but nogo. My advice place a thin solid with the texture and it might work(haven't tested it)
Lastly the laser thing I didn't get a chance to see if I could work it. I'll try tommorrow.

I gave up on the cool looking bridge and just made a plain looking one. I made all the windows zone portals because there's fake backdrop on the other side. When I can get on my home comupter again on friday I'll remake the windows. I hope it works.

What about ideas to put in the thing so that it doesn't feel quite so empty. I did good in the room with the reactor and the one with the falls but I'm worried about the flag room. It's so big it's hard to add detail and stuff.

You could add "invisible collision hulls" to fix the windows. At least that's what I do...

You don't need to zone out a section just because it has fake back drops. You need to zone it out if you're inserting a seperate zoneinfo in there:)
I attached the map below incase any1 else wants to give it a look. The cool bridge I'll try and figure out what was going on with it. Between the two of us maybe we'll work it out.

K i'm confusing myself now. I dont' know what I was thinking because to make the skybox work you only need the zone info where the skybox actually is you don't need one for every place. I put them in there if you look you find them behind each window, and you don't notice ingame.

I guess we dont' need to worry about the bridge unless you can make a really cool lookin one that is low poly.

If the windows don't need to be zone portals then try making them normal windows and see if that works.

TWD:
Make it a symetric CTF map

Add teleporters in the hallways just under the flag, which go to sniper/minigun posts in the central room connecting the two bases.
Think "CTF-Orbital" at a smaller scale.

here is a site I made a long time ago for my map there's a picture of what the layout is on the right I think I wasn't planning on makeing a huge room connecting the two rooms in fact there will be 4 ways between the two bases, and each of those will connect to two others. When you play it it'll feel like becoming a sphere.

Take screenie of it from the top down view and then draw lines to indicate what your thinking.

k here's the latest version I can't fix the windows.

I remade some of them and made them transparent and solid but not zone portal like you said. I also made it a bit smaller than the space it was to go in. You still fell through it! I hear I need to use a collison hull but on the bridge thingy a collision hull didn't work.
