View Full Version : Speccing For Bots

Afternoon all,

Can someone give me some pointers on what to look for when speccing someone..? Are there any giveaway signs that someone is an aimbotter?

How do the aimbots work exactly..?

Do they always target the nearest player?

Do they always look towards their target, or only when the target is visable, ie will it appear to look through walls when it is tracking an oppenent, or will it only start when that oppenent moves out from behind the wall..?

Although they only really affect hitscan weapons do they still track while using other weapons. For example, could they help getting a lock-on with the rocket launcher by keeping the enemy in the sights? Could they be effective with Plasma rifle secondary fire?

If someone can help out with these questions I'd be very greatful.

Has anyone tried a bot out to see how it works to answer these questions?

To prove my newbieness, could someone tell me exactly what "hitscan" weapons means?

And also, is it possible to use aimbots in single player, but NOT multiplayer (can they be uninstalled easily)?

Heh, there ya go, more questions.

beware of posting anything about aimbots, they only bring bad posts!!!!

but...

aimbots only realy work well with instant weapons like sniper, shock primary, and insta. and they targett whtever crosses your croshair(i think)

i realy don't feel like answering woth more than that I will let some others do that...

help yourself out by doing a search on this forum...trust me, this thread will get somenot-so-nice remarks about how we ALWAYS see posts like this!

peace

(and Matt, your second question is loaded...it implies you are looking for/have an aimbot you would like to use) (also, i signed your guest book :) )

Well, I would never cheat in online gaming, it would be for single player purposes alone. So that I know what to look for, how it works, etc. But hey, if people would accuse me of cheating for that, I won't bother.

And yeah, thanks for signing my guestbook.

i don't know man...like I said, i ws "helping" and posted some stuff about aimbots...

I guess it is just so frustrating to try and build skill and have a program that manipulates the best of skill come along a spoil fun...but understand I don't think you were trying to cheat, I just know how people react to those threads sometimes..."run away, run away"

I only want to find out how they can be detected while speccing so that I can be sure when I make an accusation.

There are too many false positives flying around (I've been accused myself when I've had a great game).

I'm not a new player by any stretch of the imagination. Been playing since practically day one, I just have not used these forums.

To answer a previous question, Hitscan weapons are those which do not involve a travelling projectile. For example, Rocket launcher, Primary Plasma, Flak cannon. To determine a hit the server tracks the projectile and calculates damage at point of impact. With hitscan weapons there is no projectile to track. If your crosshair is over an enemy and you fire you have hit, subject to ping of course.

All I want to do is determine what to look for while speccing a player. Hopefully someone can help me out without jumoping to any more conclusions... :)

If ya see me in #planetunreal, ask me for the aimbot demos.I have played long enough to spot them fairly quickly, and have logged back into the servers as a spec, and got demos of them from a behindview 0 (1st )person.

I don't have enough webspace left to put them on,so if ya ask me i will be glad to send them via dcc (too big for e-amil too)

Find Rev or me and get a demo from one of us. I am in irc.enterthegame.com #lol every night. Once you see a demo of an aimbot in action, you will know what to look for. They move in a way that is just not natural. As far as the other questions, do they look through walls, do they target the nearest player, etc... I think there are different aimbots with different features.

Matt, you are playing with fire. If its already on you machine, delete it. You may join a CSHP server and be detected (even if you only planned on using it for singleplayer). Then everyone will think you are a cheater. We are getting kind of paranoid and once someone is found to have an aimbot, they are always suspected.

Why do you want it for singleplayer anyway? It isn't going to improve your game if you are using it. It will just slow down your progress. It isn't fun. I've never had one, but from the demos I've seen I think it gets boring really quickly. You go to the top of Face. Close your eyes and hold down the firebutton and listen to M-M-Monster-kill-kill-kill over and over again as you kill respawning bots. Boring. And if you have it for single player, what is to stop you from using it on non CSHP servers, just to see how it works on multiplayer? And when you get kind of used to the idea of it, what is to stop you from using it in an important game to get that one game saving shot and be a hero? Its too tempting, don't put it on your machine at all.

If you just want to know how it works and what to look for, watch an aimbot demo. Don't get an aimbot.

LOL I've tried quite a few of the bots, all singleplayers vs bots and it's quite fun imho, reminds me of playing tombraider, if u type behindview 1

just uninstall it after ur done.

And u prolly could get it to work with rocketlauncher etc and make it lead the target perfectly, but I doubt many of the coders ain't that patient to make one like that, sinc eit ain't that usefull.

You can recognize an aimbot by these signs:

the guy makes an incredible amount of headshots, but generally sux at anything else (i.e. doesn't dodge at incoming fire)
he uses prolly only hitscan weapons (weapons that hit instantly when you fire)
his view will shift almost suddendly at the ennemy's head when he fires
his hits are almost always "late" because of the ping (it hits where the target was <ping> milliseconds before)
some of them will suddendly go back and walk a while to collect a power-up. (some (L)aimbots have integrated timers  )
the guy will wantingly search for high positions (i.e. he will boots+elevator-Jump and fire mid-air in DM-Barracks) where you can see other players but need an hell of an aim to hit them.
And it is unlikely that he will predict his opponents next moves.

If you just want to know how it works and what to look for, watch an aimbot demo. Don't get an aimbot. I am not playing with fire. I do not have one on my comp, nor do I claim to know where to get one. I was wondering. "Why do you want it for singleplayer anyway?" No, I wouldn't expect it to improve my skills in the slightest, it would have been once (in single player), just to see how it worked. Seriously, that is all. And I'm not the kinda guy who gets tempted easily.

But I'm not gonna bother anyway (own choice).

I know where to get all sorts of cheats and everything, but damn if I'm ever gonna say where.

Matt, you seem to be another one asking for an aimbot. We won't say where to get them "to see how they work." Watch an aimbot demo which was offered to you and that is how they work. We are not a supplier of aimbots and never will be.

You don't need them installed to "see how they work."

If you aren't going to watch a demo, fine. But don't go using an aimbot. It's not worth it. If you forget you have it in, and join a CSHP server, you will be labeled a cheater by CSHP. It doesn't know you aren't planning on using it in the game.

My original question was just me wondering whether they were easy to uninstall. But I don't care anymore. It seems like everyone wants to slowly try and drag me closer and closer to the place where they can accuse me of cheating.

Damnit I'm in a cranky mood.

... and again the "Aimbot stalker" Syndrom hits PuF  Matt is NOT searching for an aimbot.

Can't we use the word "aimbot" in a post and not start a flame war? :(

I just caught an aimbot on Wireplay Deck 16 yesterday, and it was the first one I've seen (apart from demos).

It was so creepy, this guy was crouching at the top of deck 16 (with a sniper, surprise!) and was spazzing as his view shifted from spawn point to spawnpoint.

It made me feel creepy and my skin crawl, he was flicking so fast left/right/left/right he looked like a buzzing insect or something! In fact my skin is crawling now as I think of it.... ok so it's odd but I had to share the feeling. :/
