View Full Version : Ag-3

In these times when weapons suggestions are encouraged, I thought I'd contribute a little myself...

The AG-3 , A modified version of The H&K G3, is currently the standard issue rifle for the Norwegian army ( that's my country). And since we all want more weapons used by real military forces, I think this is a good suggestion.

I don't know too much of the performance of this weapon. But I know, according to HKPro that a G3 rifle weighs about 11 pounds, wich is rather heavy. It can as shown in the picture be equipped with a HK74 40mm. grenade launcher and a scope. I would definatly use this as a counter part to the AR rifles planned / implented in INF.

I'm for it. I didn't realize anyone used them as standard issue anymore.

Weapons Suggestions are generally disregarded

What ae you talking about with weapon suggestions being welcome?

And the G3's a great rifle, but we already have an M16 which has a scope and a GL, why do we need another rifle with the same equipment, what new does it bring to the table? plus it's bulk? Nahhh.

It brings, 7.62mm firepower. In a package lighter than the PSG-1 and with iron sights that make it more appropiate than the PSG-1 for CQB.

i thought it was more they're welcome but don't expect anything to come of it.

I thought the new guidelines were kinda more friendly to suggestions...

Here was what I refered to:

Weapon suggestions are generally disregarded by the INF team, though the encourage us to discuss such ideas anyways (that's the official word on these new forums).

see?

I think ppl are talking about the same thing here, treat it like an open discussion, but no more than that.

Lack of 7,62NATO battle rifle has been pointed out already many times on this forum.
It is indeed strange that one is not planned.
Personally i would not go for the G3 as already over half the weapons included in INF are HK's. I think FN FAL would be suitable as it is the most used 7,62NATO rifle in the world.

FN FAL would rock, As would several others out there. I realize that INF is about NEW military weapons but what about some old classics (British Enfield in 303 or 308 for example)?

And dont gimme no problems about it being bolt action, just because a weapon can fire fast don't mean its better (unless you are in a full auto spray -N- pray fight)

I think if any 7.62mm Battle Rifle is included it should be the H&K G3A3. Because it's simply the best there is.

poaw that's a rather Biased statement I think...a 7.62x51 has the same power as a gun with the same ammo, and if they have the same barrel then there's not much difference so it goes down to attachments...

And then that goes nowhere.

So really, if I shoot you with a .22LR and you drop dead with your G3 is the .22LR a better gun?

A gun's a Gun!

Umm, what about:
Reliability
Handling
Ease of Maintenance
Size/Weight
Ergonomics
Firing Rate (rpm)
Trigger Groups (Full-Auto, Semi, Burst)

I think that's most of the rest (of course in addition to "attachments").

A gun may be a gun (as they can all kill a person); but some do a "better" job than others.

OH, just to edit; I missed:
Cost
Availability
Barrel Twist

Availability => in a campaign-mode maybe, in a single round this is not an issue
Reliability => currently not an issue in infiltration...
Ease of Maintenance => not important in infiltration, maybe useful in a campaign-mode ?

Handling
Ergonomics
If you this results in more/less recoil then you could use it
Leaves :
Size/Weight => bulk
Firing Rate (rpm)
Trigger Groups (Full-Auto, Semi, Burst)
attachments
"Cost"
as a way to distinguish weapons.

That's not much, so the armory can't be that big unless you want to treat weapons as faces/headgear.
I don't think that's the way this mod should go ...
There are more important things to worry about I think.

Barrel Twist => ??? what is that ?
Could it be simulated ?
Would the average player notice the difference if it was ?

Barrel twist= the amount of inches it takes before the "threads" inside the barrel have made a full 360 degree twist, The total amount of twists in the barrel influences the accuracy of the weapon.

Gabriel and Poaw:

Since I can't really tell a difference in power between the PSG-1 and the M-16, maybe a 7.62mm rifle should wait until the damage model is completed?

Yeah, probably...
