I use Winroute and it works very well better than MS stuff in any case...
How strange isn t it !
I tried to use internet sharing crap from Win98 SE but it didn t work at all so i can t really help you.
If you want to use Winroute here s some tips.
Winroute must be run on the comp connected on internet.
I have a cable connection.
So my server have 2 network cards one connected to the cable modem the other to my lan.
Configuring winroute is easy but to avoid some packet loss when playing UT online you have to allow some ports (3128 7777 27900 28900) to be directed to the IP adress of your "game" comp(in Settings
->Advanced ->Port Mapping).
BTW does any1 knows exactly what are the ports used by UT???
I found those ones in some *.ini but i m not sure they are the only ones.

Ive currently a shared ADSL line shared through WinGate at the mo.
Its supposedly 'the best' proxy program around (or so the reviews say). Im not sure what type of proxy service UT/INF uses, but it seems to work under Wingate.
Could be Socks4,5...hell maybe even http proxy...God knows , but I reccomend WinGate *****5/5
just go to wingate.com
If not, there are plenty of free proxy programs available...you just need to look, Cos apparently the Windows built-in proxy seems to be very unreliable and renowned for security problems.
BTW, does anybody know whether playing online through a proxy gives poorer pings that just direct?

I've been using ICS no problems for ages. I think it works perfectly. I've shared 5 others through my cable modem to play some CS online and it worked great.
Here's how I did it.
- 2 network cards in my machine. Both netgear 100mb cards.
- add/remove programs - add in ICS. Go through the setup, pick a card #1 as your internet card.
- make sure it's plugged into the cable modem, and the other card plugged into the hub/switch.
- reboot.
- test my internet works.
- go into internet options | connection | sharing
- choose to display icon in task bar.
- for client machines - one network card connecting to hub. Choose to have ip automatically assigned.
- Reboot.
- Test internet connection. The first time it connects there is a delay, but after it gets sorted out it runs fine after that.
Other than that there's not much to say about ICS - it's pretty straightforward.
Try uninstalling and re-installing to see if that helps.

buy a hub, set a dynamic ip in both netcards protocols (i.e:109.209.171.30 ; 109.209.171.31), plug the dsl into the hub, 2 cables from the hub to both comps, works everytime, that easy.

I do like PROMAGNUM says, but when you specify IP it's called static. Dynamic is when your ISP changes it on you all the time.
However, this setup may or may not work with your ISP. There is a proxy program called Sygate that allows you to share broadband with only one network card in the server computer. That's nice because you don't need to get the extra hardware.

oh I meant static :)
btw have your sub net to 255.255.255.0 and specify your workgroup (same name for each comp) in the network nieghborhood properties, and give your comp a name, etc.
