i was reading something in the paper today about a ammunition that's been developed that isn't as toxic as the current lead based ammo. it said it uses tungsten and is supposed to be just as effective as the lead stuff. i was kinda wondering if anyone new anything about it. i've been trying to convince my dad to let me build a rifle range in the pasture for quit a while but his main concern for not letting me do it is soil contamination from the lead bullets. and i thought that maybe if i could get some of that ammo then i could finally convince him to let me do it.

you can combat lead poison through using the degenerating rifle rounds the police use for training!!

After reading about the wounding characteristics of various rifle caliber projectiles, I figure that lead poisoning is the *least* of my worries....
In other words, I'm going to stick to my philosophy of not getting shot in the first place.

the green part is aimed more at enviromental freindly ness. it's not just the ammo itself but the entire manufacturing process that they're looking at.
but lead contamination in the soil is a larger concern, areas that have been used for a target range are virtually useless for much else. after awhile vegatation won't even grow there.
