in the earlier versions of INF, you were able to turn "bots stand off mode" on and off (i think that's what it was called) but in this one, you can't (as far as i know) so like, i was wondering if there was any way to turn it off because the bots just sit around their bases and don't move which can get real aggravating....
what i'd like to know is, can i fix this, or is it just too bad for me? (since i know most people don't play with bots, i know it's probably not that big of an issue, but i have a 56k so i should have whining rights.)

Which map is giving you problems? Most of them have good bot support, err well as good as the bot AI in its current form.

Believe it or not, people DO play offline against bots. And I'm one of them. I bought UT for offline play anyways since I heard it's got a great bot AI.
Anyway, the bots do seem to just stand around in certain areas of certain maps, and that's not INF's fault but rather the mapper's fault. It is quite difficult for many of us D.I.Y. mappers to make very good bot paths, and of course if there's no path, the bots won't do much. You just have to look for the maps that have good bot supports.:)

Right now I'm only playing offline myself til 2.86 comes out. And besides I'm on 56k so some nights the ping just isn't there. Waaah:) Thats why I'm curious what maps you've tried.
I would reccomend reading the reviews on RealMaps(hit the maps button at the top of the INF page) or check out Nali City. But even on the best map your always going to have 1-3 spots where the bots hang up.
All of the official INF maps are good. Some good unofficial maps I reccomend are:
Dogtown, Sleepytown, Sniper Alley, Da Hood, Fight Night. Manor Farm and Texas Bank are good but run a little slow in places on my 450MHz.
And have faith the bot code will be overhauled in time:)

hmm.... i don't really know what maps are the ones that give me trouble, i just tried a few and gave up, thinking that it was the "bot stand-off mode" thing, but iono. i'll try more maps and see if that's what's wrong. the UT bot AI is very good in comparison to most other bots, that's very true, i guess i was just lazy. thanks for your replies, i'm glad i'm not the only one who has a bad connection. :)

The bots in INF are all set to cautious and max camping. They run for the nearest camp location. Right now I'm struggling to get those little bastards to move out and kill an enemy in my map. They're so lazy, they won't even chase down enemy bots. They'll shoot a bit, and go back. It's mostly a bot issue, but some maps DO have crappy botpathing. And some maps just don't path well, mine especially. Some maps may not be INF specific, and those maps have weapons all over and usually by spawn points. So the INF bots just sit with the guns and ammo talking about old times when there wasn't a loadout system:)
