Hi all.
I've got a suggestion that seems both logical, practical, and easy to implement. Basically, the weapons in INF all tend to handle the same, save recoil. What I'm proposing is a simple programming fix. The bulkier a weapon is, the 'slower' it will aim (ie: turning down the sensitivity). However, the more bulk it has, the less recoil there will be.
For example, the M16 and the M4 Carbine. The M16 is heavier (2lbs I belive), and longer. What this would translate into is a slower aiming speed. However, this also makes those long-range shots easier to accomplish because the weapon is more stable. An M249 would handle like a slug, but as it is a light machine gun, this would be a tremendous advantage to be able to keep your rounds on target.
This system would only be active when 'aiming'. When at your hip, you can spin around at normal speed. This will also encourage people to NOT aim while sprinting forwards, without penalizing their speed.
This can all be done with simple fractions of what the player has set as his/her default sensitivity and the bulk of the weapon.
Sorry for being so dry and to the point, but here is a good UT cartoon from www.penny-arcade.com, Enjoy!
