Just wanted your opinions on whether i should release my first map.??(when its finished which is a long way off yet as u can tell by the pics).Just wanted to know cause i've heard from other people that u should really only post your first map if you've already completed some maps(so its not a complete dud).

This is my very FIRST map,the map im actually learning Ued with to be precise(its mainly been constructed with primatives).
I don't wanna spend ages on it only to stick it in a folder out the way once its completed,im not looking to create a brilliant map my first time just something playable.
Im still working on the map layout which will be finished soon i hope, thats why its all in a boring texture(apart from the ODD detail)then i'll start adding more detail.
I just want everyones views & honest opinions on what first time mappers should do..
Cheers.

I think if its fun to play you should. I'm just about to finish my first map and theres no way in hell i spent all that time on it to not release it. if I didn't I probably wouldn't map any more it would be a waste of time in my opinion.

Sure, it's going to kill a lot of people, but they may be dying of something else anyway. -- Othal Brand, member of a Texas pesticide review board, on Chlordane.

I think so far it looks fine (you need some more detail and some colored lighting of course), but if the bots can play it and you're satisfied with the layout, then by all means publish it! Basically, look at your map and say "if I downloaded this, would I think it was crap, or would I give it a shot?" If it's crap, keep it to yourself, but if it isn't, share!

the "usual" way we mappers work is
1st choose a theme, and a corresponding texture set.
then have a good idea in your head how action will flow, and then make room by room.

since you missed the "choosing a texture set based on theme" step, you will have some trouble choosing a texture set that "feels" right

also, please dont release it on nalicity. nalicity used to be good, but was ruined by newbies making 100s of cheap maps.(no offense)

release it here only and that way you can activly improve on it, and it can mature to "ownage" status
