View Full Version : Exploding Glass Newbie Question

Building my first real level after a lot of playing with the editor, I decide some repeatable exploding glass would be nice. I get the tutorial from Wolf's (I think ??) and it works ok... EXCEPT for the fact the 2nd+ time you shoot the glass the glass explodes at a different location from where it should, and keeps happening at that off location - in one case a good 3 second run away from the window. Why would it work right the first time and them have the effect jump to a new location?

I had the same problem. I worked out that where the glass moves to after the first time correlates directly with where you have put the keyframe1 of the window mover outside of the level. E.g. in my level To get the effect I wanted I shifted the mover above and behind the window position outside the level, which sent the glass forwards and down. Imagine that as the mover moves back to its base position it applies a force in the direction it is travelling to the breaking glass effect.
I still haven't figured out how to get it to apply this force the first time you break the glass though. In my level the first time the glass just drops straight down which isn't really what I want /~unreal/ubb/html/frown.gif If anyone knows how to stop this I would be grateful as well.

Well, that's a similar problem. It does seem that when the mover returns it "bumps" the BrokenGlass effect away from where it should be. I have the bBlockPlayers and BProjTarget set to FALSE for the effect, is there something else I should set? The effect looks really great the first time and really bad the second (and beyond) - glass exploding from nowhere in the middle of the street hundreds of units away while the glass mover just vanishes silently. Eeeeeew. Talk about breaking the illusion.

Under the ExplodingGlass properties=>Collision, disable all of it.
Under the Advanced section=>bNoDelete=True.
Ok, that should help there. Just make sure that you're supposed to shoot the mover and that the Mover's event sets off the ExplodingGlass (it can work the other way around as well, so it can get tricky).
