Ok, first of all it's really nice, and I love it, but I'm not quite liking some things. First of all I can't get use to turning with me left hand and strafing/running with my right... but I've not played much. And the trackball isn't nearly as accurate/smooth as my mouse (only bothers me when zoomed/sniping).

Here's the problem though, the joystick WILL NOT STAY CALIBRATED! I'll be playing, and let off the joystick, and suddenly the center point has changed and I'm running forward or backward. Is there something I can do to fix this, is it common with the joystick, or did I get a bad one?

BTW, does anyone else have the cool clear/red lighted trackball? It looks awsome in the dark.

wow, troll is goin' the pxl route now?

anyways on to your stick problems.

sounds like it needs to be recalibrated. if you've recalibrated numerous times and it still ain't working right, you probably got a gimped out one and should exchange it.

troll didn't have one before?

Hmm... guess i was thinking about the wrong person LOL!

anyway... Yes, I've recalibrated several times, and it just won't hold.

I'll check their site and see if they have any drivers for it. I don't think the disk had any drivers, just the dos utility and some other stuff... I think it might be using drivers that came with windows, because the only thing on the disk was a setup.exe And if it did install them the new ones might work better anyway.

I'm really gonig to have to practice with it though, it's a lot different... I can't even beat a average bot! I got to where everything was so automatic with the keyboard/mouse. The book that came with it says to install the stuff on the CD, but I just got a disk... and ANOTHER copy of halflife. Should I have gotten a CD?

Mine only came with a floppy.

I've had mine for 6 or 7 months. It just started to make ut crawl during dm with bots. I went back to m & k and the game runs smother.

Now I'll have to used to that all over again.

I've got a PXL myself and it works like a charm for me although I've had plenty of problems with it before (I'm on my third one, all from warranty exchanges). The first one I got, it was broken from the start. It wouldn't calibrate at all. The second one worked fine until I dropped it (oops) and one of the trackball wheels broke so I got that replaced. The third one works fine except for one button not working, which I can live without. I've had this one for about a year now so I'm happy with it. If you ever need to get another one though, lots of luck finding one. As far as I can tell, hardly anyone is selling them anymore, but Madcatz is supposed to be developing a new version with USB support. Definitely spend the time getting used to it. Once you master the new controller, it's a lot easier than trying to hit the correct button on the keyboard. And just be real careful with it, as the don't react too well to any kind of abuse.

Well, apparently It's a physical problem, so I'm going to give madcatz tech support a chance to give their input before I do anything.

But, Here's a question: Should I exchange it for another one now, or simply return it and wait for the PRO. Does anyone know if it's supposed to be sturdier? I wish I had known about all these weaknesses in the joystick itself. On the PXL message board one guy said he's had 6 of them so far because the trigger keeps breaking!
