Hey I was talking to Zaccix the other night and I told him that at college I can't access Planetunreal.com so he gave me this site :

http://proxys4all.cgi.net/web-based.shtml

it works from home but that page is also blocked so I tryed a link from one of the CGI proxy servers but it says host not found. I really need your help. Even the IP is banned.
Here is the link i tryed :
http://www.rewebber.com/surf_encoded/http://www.planetunreal.com

Zaccix said something about his own proxy ?? So can it be done can I access restriced sites like planetunreal ?

Thanks for your time

I'm sorry for you, but if your net admin at your college doesn't want you to visit Planetunreal there's nothing to do :(
Admins are gods in electronic worlds

If PU is blocked, there's not much you can do.. talk to the admins at your school.

Here at my office, we have a firewall that I do not have access to. For this reason, I cannot play UT nor access mIRC or Napster through my LAN. Why the hell they would want to prevent me from these activities, I dunno. ;)

I do have a modem on my system, so I just dial up to my home ISP and access what I need through that.

If you do have access through a modem, just setup a Netzero account. It's kinda slow but it works.

You should definitely talk to your admin, you may get surprising results ;)
Here at my school we managed to have him open some ports, so we can use mIrc (but obviously he refused to let us use Napster:( ) now we're gonna try to get the 7500 to 7800 ports open, so we can play on most PU servers from LAN computers during the holyday.

My question is, why would a college block a gaming domain?

Must be the lego pr0n in another thread.

I'll take my own case as an exemple to answer:
We have here about 80 computers under Windoz NT 4, all connected together, with a *FAST* internet access (above 100KB a sec.). There is a firewall to protect the entire domain from script-kiddies AND dumb students. This firewall blocks every ports except the ftp, http, telnet and irc ports (well as far as i know), because the admins don't want their 17-to-28-year-old students to spend their entire days downloading MP3s and p0rn pics, or use the expensive optic fiber internet connection for gaming. No, they want us to find documents for reports, and to get some contacts with the industry :(.

I can see the reason for blocking Napster, or not wanting people playing games across the network, but a normal web page?

All I can say is..that is tight!
