View Full Version : Submerged elevators....

Okay, I've built a vertical tube that drops into a sewer half-filled with water. To let people get back up, I've built a box-shaped mover with an open front that starts out submerged under the water (so no one lands on it and dies when jumping down the tube). I'm having trouble with getting the mover to pick a swimming player up out of the water though...

The player triggers the mover just fine, but when the floor of the mover comes up and contacts with the floating player, the mover considers it an 'encroachment'. If I set Encroach to 'Ignore' the elevator passes right through the player, but if I choose any of the others, they can never get up (either the mover returns/stops or it kills them).

Is there a way to set the 'encroachment threshold' or something? Or maybe a way to set it to 'crush' but with 0 damage? This one's got me baffled...

Thanks!

Sounds like you did a bad job of making the mover, no offense. Make sure when you intercect the brush, that you reset the cube first. Do not use the stretching too to make the brush larger than the elevator, it wont work, you'll pass right through it, like your describing.

Instead, use the cube properties to make the brush larger than the elevator.. place it in the level, rebuild, and see if it works then. The enroachment should be at return when enroached, unless you want it to kill them or ignore them or something.

Nah, the elevator works just fine if the player swims to the surface with it... the mover is not the problem. Anyway, I circumvented the whole issue by adding a platform on the wall and an extra keyframe to the mover... now the mover is triggered from the platform instead of underwater and you hop on it before it goes up. Don't know why I didn't think of that before...

Thanks anyway!
