I made a level that works nicely, the botpaths work well and all...the problem is i just can't play it myself. I always spawn as a spectator (no, 'play as spectator' is not checked), although if i start a team dm i'm able to give orders to the bots on my team. Please help me out, I've tried everything I can think of but can't figure this one out (although it's probably something really simple). thanks.

Did you assign yourself a team color in the player setup screen? That might be why if your unassigned.

c'mon this can't be this complicated, my first post here and no one answers...

Yea, this is certainly an event related to the specific level. Any other level plays normally. Could there be a setting I could have accidentally changed that would force any player characters to spectate (or something)? Is there a 'botsonly' option that could be switched on for the level (as compared to the 'playersonly' tag)?

I'ld just delete all the PlayerStarts and replace them.

Ok, it didn't work. I removed all PlayerStart actors and made new ones. No effect. However, I found a bit strange line in the log after opening the level in UT; I don't remember it exactly, but it was something like

possessed playerpawn: commander0 (and something)

while openinganother level (dm-brutality][) produced something like this:

possessed playerpawn: TMale1.blahblah

could this have something to do with the problem?

Ok, I finally got it working...

I've been using the bot models under Pawn:PlayerPawn:TournamentPlayer (not sure if that was right) as a measure of the size of things; it's nice to see how big or small a location looks when you place a human model somewhere.

well at some point I had accidentally placed in a 'commander' (probably thought it was the boss model),and that's when the hell broke loose... /~unreal/ubb/html/wink.gif

adding the Commander pawn doesn't seem to do anything (only a 'actor successfully added' message), and it shows up nowhere, but it's there. It took me quite a while to figure this out, but I finally got it removed with a ACTOR DELETE OFCLASS CLASS=Commander cmd.

a word of warning: don't add in a Commander.
