Now that 432/436 have aged ... opinions on restricting translocation?

Well, there was so much controversy when the 432 patch came out regarding Epic's limiting the rate of translocation. Now that the 432 and 436 patches are well established ... what are your final thoughts? There were many who felt Epic was making a mistake ... there were many who felt it had to be done and that it was a good move. How do you feel now?

Personally, I think it has worked out fantastically. The game is really fun again, it seems like CTF is now more like it was meant to be played. You can still use the TL for what it was meant to be used for - movement, while still getting the occasional telefrag.

Thoughts?

Well, I have gotten used to it, and it's not as bad as I had originally thought.

187 seems to be able to telefrag just as well though =/

It *does* get annoying at times though, I have gotten stuck in corners plenty of times cause it wouldn't fire fast enough =/

Adjustments to TL

I have to agree with you DS. I still don't know if I'm on one side of the fence or the other as to whether the TL is a tool or a weapon. I know there are many who say either. Regardless though I'm glad they toned it down as I also feel that the game is more enjoyable again. There are so many players that are simply outstanding with so many aspects of the game that it really makes it tough for the little guy to enjoy it. And yeah I know they can just get up and go elsewhere but should they always have to? I think Epic did a good thing. But it's just an opinion.

I think that it's just great that the tele-train guys have disappeared... now the time has come for REAL players to emerge... (I'm not included...)

As some of you may recall, I was violently opposed to this change at first. Not because I was a tele-spammer(I wasn't), or even because I liked tele-spamming, but because I didn't think it was right to make such a huge change that late in the game.

But I was wrong. I love the change. It hasn't really affected my play style at all, and no longer do I see these teletrainers everywhere...I'm sorry I doubted you, Epic :)

I think Epic did the right thing by limiting the TL, but they didn't break the netcode straight away. This meant lots of people staying with 428 saying "sod the bugfixes, I want a fast TL!"

It's made no noticeable difference in my playing. I was never a teleh0 in the first place ;)

I haven't really noticed much difference. But now that you mention it...I haven't seen the teletraining going on in maps like LavaGiant.

I like fighting players, not discs.

I've gotten used to it (no choice there) and its way easier to kill people mid flight as they teleport.

Even though im still called a telespammer by newbies, its ok. I still feel like a sitting duck at times when i use it.

Breaking the netcode with 436 was Epic's way of saying " you are GOING to use the new slower Xloc and you WILL like it!" :D

I say good job Epic. This makes people use SKILL instead of being a tele-h0. I hardly use the xloc at all. It could fire one a second and I wouldn't care.

I can still make all of my TL tosses in high spots. :D

Exactly what I was going to say :) I can still do everything I need to with the thing, so it is fine for me... and while I was missing a few tl's at first, I have got the timing fine now so I hardly ever notice the restriction!

I must say, it's not all that bad. Sure, I die more on Face when trying to get up to the redeemer, but I guess that's my fault for not making it up there on two throws. That's something I have to work on now (but it was never a problem 3 months ago)

I still miss my 12 TL/sec (hehe) but it's better that we all are on the same level when it comes to TL Speed.

This restriction makes me 10x happier when I get a Telefrag, because I feel as if I beat Epic at it's own little game. (I've got 750+ telefrags, according to ngworldstats :p)

I'll tell ya, though.. I still play on 428 > servers. :D
