mod music --> mp3

The only method I know of how to convert mod music to MP3 format is via Modplug Tracker, but the MPEG codec that the program supplies is not satisfactory. I know there is a higher quality method of doing this but I don't know how, can anyone help me out? Thanks.

ModPlug *Player* has a "Save as WAV" option.
Once you've done that, you can use your favorite encoder to make the MP3
