Fast trackers!
Has anyone figured out how to use these things? Making the music is no problem but getting it into a ".S3m" file is tough.
.
Ive checked out the sight that epic games (tim sweany)link u to but theres nothing of value there except for the programs itself & the FAQ file that comes with those are crap.
.
Any tutorials that u know of?

I was under the impression that Unreal could directly import Impulse Tracker (.it) files. I know this format is a hell of a lot newer than scream tracker, maybe you should look into it.
What are you making the music in, anyway?

by fast trackers, you mean xm's right? i thought unrealed supported xm. anyway, i haven't used it in a few years, but i think ft2 can save as s3m, so long as you use samples instead of instruments

by the way, impulse tracker is a far superior tracker, love that program!

Holy s|H|T!(<--i see they autoedit, commies) You are a life saver & the man!
Those two words "impulse tracker", a search engine & 15 minutes later im jamming! Woohoo! The fast tracker was one program that epic used. That POS was so frusrating to use.
I downloaded the MODplug tracker, & the MODplug player (the .exe versions so it will install by itself) at MODplug.com.
Some songs came out as ".it & .S3m" using export in unrealED so i guess their both. The MODplug is perfect. I didnt expect to get a answer regarding this becuz at all the "unreal" sights no one has addressed the music part of the game. I might write brief tutorial on how to make the music.
Do u mean what format i'll be making the music in or where am i putting it? Im making music for some UT levels/mods that im in the process of making & now im not sure what format it will be in =). Probably ".it". Well im off to make some coffee & goof with this stuff. Thanks again for the suggestion!

really quick differences between the three;
scream tracker only supports samples up to a certain amount.
impulse tracker can handle really LARGE samples and has a lot more options.
MODplug tracker has all the bells and whistles, but is a pain in the *** to use.
my verdict, get Impulse Tracker.

I have all three & try to avoid DOS like the plague. DOS=dinosour operating system. Ive hated using dos since it came out. MODplug works just peachy.
