If I was to build a level and use several textures from say, 8 different files....would this slow the game down compared to a map with only a few texture packs being used?
I assume it would so is there a way that I could take the specific textures from each pack and combine them into one individual file?

I've created many custom maps and I have
never experienced lag of any sort when using textures from multiple utx files. I think
when a map loads it caches the entire map
and all of it's contents, textures, decorations, etc...
so i wouldn't worry about it.
The only time you should create your own utx is when you are creating your own textures.

You'll only experience a longer loading time depending on how many textures you use (say 30 textures compared to 200).

On the other hand, if you have some 200 unique textures in any given scene you'll probally kill someone's 3d card. But that's a hardware limitation.

Oh, I'm surprised that the number of texture files being used doesn't have an effect on the game speed. Anyway, thanks for the help /~unreal/ubb/html/smile.gif
