Drop your details to medium. You'll never notice the difference while playing, and you'll easily get 10 - 15 FPS out of it. Turn off decals too. That's another 5-7. Run at 800x600. Not too much visual difference if you decrease your HUD size, and you'll get a serious boost.

I have a t-bird 1000, 256MB RAM, and a Geforce2, and I run everything like above. It's worth the slight visual trade off.

Why you don't download the lastest detonators drivers?
You must run the game in 800x600x16bit color and the details must be set medium or low!!!!

I'm running a GeForce 256 and last night I started playing with the resolution in UT.I was running the game in 1024x768 and getting a frame rate of 35-39 fps.I dropped the res to 800x600 and still got about the same framerate.I then tried 1152x864 and I got 44 fps.Go figure.I have all textures on high and decals set at the default setting.I really like the way UT looks and runs in the higher Res.Why is framerate so important anyway?I have seen alot of gamers online talking about higher framerates and I look at it this way.
The game looks great and runs great.I do not have lock ups and play to have fun.Hell DVD's only run at 28-30 fps and they run and look fine on my system.
Framerate?I'm not convinced it's worth giving up detail for more fps.

I had the same experience as you...with 33 fps at 1024x768, I increased my resolution to 1280x1024 and found my framerate boosted to 45 fps! Maybe because that's my desktop resolution?

Anyway, now that I'm trying out Loki's OpenGL drivers, I'm back down to 37 fps. See how well I can tweak it from there...

All details high, decals on, and 1024x768@16 and I get 50-60fps offline. Online I get about 35-45fps that's because IM on 56k, cable is not available in my area.IM thinking of getting ISDN,that would be my only choice. Cable will be available finally in July 2001 I can't wait (i will finally be an LPB and i can stop bitching about hating LPB's :) )

Is it a TNT2-Vanta, TNT2 M64, TNT2, or TNT2 Ultra?

With an Athlon 750 and a TNT2 M64 I used to get about 45-50 fps at 800x600x16.... but I only had a 15" monitor so I could live with that :)

Framerate?I'm not convinced it's worth giving up detail for more fps.

Taker - people want higher fps for online play because it gives it gives you a better chance of aiming and dodging in hectic situations. You can't hit what you can't see.
