my map is an supposed to be realistic yet i thought a ladder in the confined area of this air vent wouldnt work so now i want to design a rotating fan that when stood on sends the player into the air and to the top of the vent where they can move into the section of vent infront of them please help me

Ladders:
Create the ladder with normal cube brushes. To make it climbable place an invisible staircase in front of it!
The height must be the maximum climable height (8 or 10). The width is 2 or 4. Experiment with it.
The stair height is limited, because with the increasing height the stair gets bigger on the base. So you can run inti it from the side.
Fan:
Build a zone around the fan and place a zoneinfo into it. Set the Z-Axis zone velocity higher. It works this way, but I don't know more details!

Don't even bother making the ladder invisible. Just make a ladder out of individual brushes. Make each step on the ladder a long rectangular prism. I made several ladders on my map that work great. They are approximately 8 units deep and the steps are something like 30 units apart. You can make the ladder as wide as you want. Mess with the deepness and height differential of the steps as you see fit.

You mean a stair with seperated steps I think. Then your method works.
But I suppose Agent_Nord meant a VERTICAL ladder!

Wether he does it your way or my way the ladder isn't at a 90 degree angle. My way, at least the player sees the surface that he is climbing. In my opinion, I think it would look better my way, it also prevents players from approaching the ladder from the side and hitting an invisible staircase.

Let me rephrase that. Wether he does it your way or my way the ladder that the player will be climbing wont be at 90 degree angle with the floor. Therefore you'll still be faced with the same types of space limitation either way. My way it would just be easier for the player to figure out which way to approach the ladder to climb it. Although your way you do get perhaps a better visual (but not reeeaaally), if you ladder is only going to be a couple of hundred units the run over the rise is going to be very small.

The max. climbable height is 18 units - not 10 the minimum step length is 3, and if you build a vertical ladder out of normal geometry, and place an invisible staricase in front of it with the dimensions laid out above, you get the best of both worlds!

I don't know why I said 30 units.... I must be on smack...

Thanks guys but i would appreciate it if you could tell me how to make a mover like a fan that rotates and pushes the player into the air to allow him to acces to another vent and will it work with bot paths

Well, open up the actor browswer and search through there for fan2. I believe that it is under ut_decorations although I may be wrong. It's there somewhere anyways.
So insert the fan into your map like you would any other actor, you can then mess with it's velocity in it's properties to get it to spin the speed that you want.
Then follow the directions from above.
