******as above*******
For the rocks I heard that you can deintersect a cube several time in different position. Do you know another technique?

This tutorial is for halflife, but the same techniques can be applied for UT

Thanks, but it's not exactly what I'm looking for.

there's a tutorial on natural landscapes, including caverns, on unrealed.exe at http://www.planetunreal.com/unrealed/tutorials/inter/landscapes/ which looks like it might help you.

Well, I didn't want you to lose faith in the forum, so I thought I'd help you out a little. Use the 2d editor to create rocks. Just make some interesting shapes with it (this will be the bottom of the rock/mountain), then bevel it and resize it how you see fit. Now, you can deintersect it with your ground or floor or whatever to make it fit right.
Caves - build a room, square or whatever...now open up the floor lofter. Move the vertices up and down on each level (there are five), just vary it so they look natural. After that, click build. Resize it to fit your room, say the floor for instance, deintersect (remember to choose your textures first) it with the surface, then add it to your level. Do this for each wall, experimenting with different sizes, shapes for a natural effect. Also, you can use long cones to make cool looking cave structures coming down from the walls. Try making one come down and another right underneath it going up, meshing together to form a nice little effect. Add some of those cool looking blue crystals, and you've got a nice little cave.
Good luck.

Hey no problem! Glad to help. You'll still have to play with it some, but you should be able to make it look nice like that. I'm doing a crystal mine level right now similar to the second level of Unreal that I hope should look pretty sweet! Good Luck. Check out our site if have some time. http://www.planetunreal.com/valiant
