View Full Version : A Dayyusex supreme moment

Ok ok, we all know that Deus Ex Mechanicus is the greatest single-player game ever. (don't reply saying it isnt because that's not what this post is about)
The coolest, most atmospheric bit in the game is also quite secretive.
It's the flooded car-tunnel under Hong-Kong, with a dead scientist and 3 Karkians. It's got a cool little story behind it. How he's trapped (straight outta Daylight film) and frightened. It's amazing and you get a good bonus as well.

In Hong Kong, in the part of the level between Tonnichi Road and the Marketplace (where the canal is) there is a dark purple-lit bar with a guy who gives you Versalife blueprints. To get there, swim along the canal until you come to a set of stairs at a t-junction or enter it by going right down a red-lit tunnel after you load into the level. Once you get there, go to the side of it and into the kitchen area of the bar. Keep going through the next door until you get to the freezer area. Jump up onto all the boxes and onto the slippy pipe above, then crawl round it until you come to the unlocked vents below the ceiling. Go in here and get 50 skill points then follow the dark shaft along until you come to a dead-end into the water below, with a maintenance sign in front.
You will need at least two rebreathers, health restore augmentation, or high swim capability. >>>>

((((You can get two rebreathers by swimming along the main canal outside, and turning into a shallow, dark, smaller canal that crosses and connects the two main parrallel canals. In here, there is an underwater shaft leading straight down to the maintenence area mentioned before. There is a breathing hole down here, but the way to the secret area is blocked from here. In the box there are two rebreathers.)))

Back to the main secret.
>>>>Go into the water and follow it down until you come to a massive underground freeway. There are 3 Karkians swimming here. The easiest by far way to kill them is to have a crossbow loaded with tranquilizers. Shoot about a magazine of darts into each one and they should go to sleep quite quickly. From here, go left till you surface again in an enclosed area with a wrecked car. Go along here and you'll find the body of a scientist. Go left and climb behind so you can reach him over the pipes. Read the cool diary he left, collect the goodies from his body, and make your way back.

Awesome eh?

WOW! I'm gonna have to give this game a shot, now that I have a Voodoo5. That just sounds awesome!

Super. I'm glad that little guide has convinced you to get Deus Ex. It's by far the longest and most rewarding game out there.
If you've played the demo, that's about a twentieth the size of the game.

Sorry Xanman? You want me to reply (ie like this) about Deus Ex information? What kind of info? Are you mental? Deus Ex has too much stuff in it to respond to a vague question like that!

Sorry for being vague. Ok I have the money for one game. Should it be Deus Ex or should I by another game?

OH no! THE dreaded question! THE question that drives PC games mag columnists to suicide and banckruptcy!!!

- What games do you like?
- What specs your PC?
- How much money you got to spend?
- What other game are you considering?

etc etc etc. Let the games mags tell you what to get! Beware of prejudice or bias though.

Deus Ex is clearly incredibly better than UT in the single player stakes...

That is all I have to say. :)

I'll get back to it someday(hopefully soon, I'm still addicted to UT though:))
