This just started happening. I'm making a new level, lots of curvey hallways and a high poly count in the editor only. The 3d view is my problem. I'll add in another curved hallway, or delete a hallway, and I'll then rebuild. After that I try and move around in the 3d view and the 3d practically disappears, the void is the only thing showing. I can't move around after than, save the level, open a new, etc... So I have to end task on Unrealed before I can do anything. Can you help?

I don't know if this will work, but try this:
Edit your Unreal.ini file as follows:
[Editor.EditorEngine]
UseSound=True
CacheSizeMegs=196 <-----Default is 6. Try 3/4 your total ram.
GridEnabled=True
SnapVertices=True
SnapDistance=10.000000

No, that totally didn't work. I changed all the stuff and tested it out, and it didn't work. Any other ideas?

Wait till you play the map in game Jenkins. I completely shot the lighting engine for Unreal/UT and all I did was have lots of curves. Still have the map for those wanting to see what not to do.

Nope sorry, fresh out of ideas.
Decrease poly count? /~unreal/ubb/html/smile.gif

Okay wait..One more idea...
Make the same Cache size adjustment in your unrealtournament.ini
[Editor.EditorEngine]
UseSound=True
CacheSizeMegs=196 <-----Default is 6. Try 3/4 your total ram.
Or get a faster processor. /~unreal/ubb/html/smile.gif

I have had this same problem.
I found that if I added new lights to my level this problem occured. My solution is to open up the level again, hit F8 and apply lighting. Then you can rebuild geometry etc.
I hope this works for you.

If you want to see the right way to do "curved" surfaces check out DM-Brutality2 (http://www.planetunreal.com/dl/nc.asp?nalicity/utdm/dm-brutality2.zip).

I've got an idea but it requires a lot of work to do. Just lower the number of curves you've got. Or keep the same number of curves just less round. Yeah you lose some detail with it but this isn't Q3.
Don't start a ****ing Q3vsUT thread out of this damn it!
Disclaimer: Hanh "Wanderer" Court does not actually care if you make a flame thread out of this but the second he gets moderation control he will.

I'm content with my map and my curved hallways. I will not change it in any way. But I seem to have found a way around it. I simply rebuild w/ Auto BSP on. I don't like it because all the lights and everything slow it down in the editor. But I'm practically 95% done with geometry and I'm almost done. =)

General Protection fault!
History: URener:: AMD3dClipBspSurf <- URender:: OccludeBsp <- URender:: OccludeFrame <- UEditorEngine:: Tick <- UpdateWorld <- MainLoop
What the hell does that mean?

Sounds like the BSP got ****ed. If you can try to export the level. Then re-import it into a new level. Rebuild and pray.

Nah, I don't think I'll exporting it, I don't want to retexture everything, there's way too much!!!
