Well this might be a stupid question, but I can't seem to get a screenshot attached to my own map. I allready took it. I think that I should add it in de mapoptions under mapinfo. But I just can't get that to work.
Please help?

Im not sure if this will work for you or not!
Try going into
Options>LevelProperties>LevelInfo>Screenshot.
I think thats where you tell what screenshot to use for your level.
Hope this helps!

Hey I found some more info that might help you out. Lizard Of Oz posted this some time ago. Here it is:

"-- Using a program like "Paint Shop Pro..."
Resize your screenshot to 256x256 and convert it to 8bit color (256 colors) save it as a ".bmp" in your /UnrealTournament/texture directory.

Go into UnrealEd and open your map. Choose Textures in the Browser.

Click on Import. Change the Name to screenshot.

Change the Package to MyLevel. (Don't save the texture package.)

Open the Level Properties. (F6)

Expand the LevelInfo section.

Select your screenshot in the Browser. Then click on the Screenshot section under LevelInfo and then click Use. "

Save the map.

Check this out this is pretty cool!
Wanderer posted this Dec 1999:

"Want a good screenshot? Here's how.
Start up UT. Go into the preferences and disable the HUD. Start your map up with no bots.

Now in the game type in the console, "iamtheone" (minues the quotes)
Then type in "killall enforcer"

Ok, no gun now. Clean screenshot. Now just find a nice place in your map where a screenshot would either show it off or would show a good view of all of it.

Then take a program like Jasc's Paint Shop Pro and shrink it down. Then take a 256x256 portion of it and save it as an 8bit color bmp file. This I'll do if you send the picture to etherealhc@aol.com

Now you go into UnrealEd and open your map. Choose Textures in the Browser. Then click on Import. Change the Name to Screenshot. Change the Package to MyLevel. Don't save the texture package.

Press F6 to open the Level Properties. Expand the LevelInfo section. Select you're Screenshot in the Browser. Then click on the Screenshot section under LevelInfo and then click Use. Save the map, rebuild if you want and then exit UED.

Check it out and see if it works. "

Thanks again to Wanderer and Lizard of Oz for the information in my last two posts. /~unreal/ubb/html/smile.gif

instead of fussing with the 'iamtheone' crap, just change into spectator mode. You'll be able to fly around without a HUD or weapon etc.

Here is the sort-of official way to do it. Doing a netsearch on 'unreal' and 'screenshot' would have found this asked & answered 10,000 times since December.

UT Editing Tip: Level Preview Snapshots for UT Maps.
Here's how to place a preview screenshot of your level in the map.
This preview will be visible when your map is selected in UT.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
------

Your preview screenshot must be a 256 x 256 pixel, 256 color .PCX or
.BMP file.

In UnrealEd select Textures in the Browser window and then click the
Import button to import your preview screenshot. A file dialog will
pop up. Browse to the location where your preview is stored and
select it, then click the OK button. The Import Texture dialog will
pop up. In the "Name:" field enter "screenshot" and in the "Package:"
field enter "MyLevel". Uncheck the "Generate MipMaps" option and then
click the OK Button.

After UnrealEd works for a moment you should see the "MyLevel"
package displayed in the browser with your preview screenshot shown
in the browser texture window.

[Steve's added note: you need to go to Level Properties from the
Ued's drop down menus and there's a field called "Screenshot" (or
something like that); you need to click on your newly created
textured screenshot in the Browser window to have the name come up]
Rebuild and save your map.

When you run UT and select your map (when starting a practice session
or network game) you should see your screenshot displayed just as it
does with all of the maps that came with UT.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
------

If you DO NOT see your map in UT make sure that:

your map is in your \UnrealTournament\Maps directory

your map name is prefixed with

"AS-" for an assault map eg: AS-BayOfPigs
"CTF-" for a Capture the Flag map eg: CTF-RallyRound
"DM-" for a deathmatch map eg: DM-Smasher
"DOM-" for a domination map eg: DOM-Inator

Actually I've updated that info on doing a screenshot. I've pretty much reached the same quality as found in the UT maps screenshots. Problem is you only really notice it if you're like me and play at 512x384.

Not sure if I wanna add it to this thread though, it's too damn long :P

Here's the best way I found to do it.
<UL TYPE=SQUARE>
<LI>Go to Options--&gt;Player Setup and click the "Play as Spectator" box.
<LI>For CTF maps also go to Options--&gt;Preference--&gt;Hud and un-check the "Show HUD" box. If you don't, the flags will show in your shot.
<LI>Start a "Practice Session" with your map (with or without BOTS... your choice, I prefer without)
<LI>You may want to change your FOV to 100 or 110 for a wide-angle look. (Issue the "FOV 110" command at the consol)
<LI>"Fly" around and find the shot that best characterizes your map and hit F9. The Shot will be saved to your x:\unrealtournament\system directory.
<LI>Using a program like "Paint Shop Pro," Resize your screenshot to 256x256 and convert it to 8bit color (256 colors) save it as a ".bmp" in your x:\UnrealTournament\texture directory.
<LI>Go into UnrealEd and open your map. Choose Textures in the Browser.
<LI>Click on Import. Pick the shot you just took, and change the name to "screenshot".
<LI>Change the "Package" to "MyLevel". (Don't save the texture package.)
<LI>Open the Level Properties. (F6)
<LI>Expand the "Level Info" section.
<LI>Select your screenshot in the Browser. Then click on the Screenshot section under "Level Info" and then click Use. "
<LI>Save the map.
</UL>

Oh my way does antialiasing on the picture and makes it almost the same quality as the Epic screenshots. But this thread is too damn long /~unreal/ubb/html/smile.gif
