View Full Version : I need HELP from an experienced Unreal mapper!!

Well i can do the building bit ok, and if i do say so myself im quite competent at creating unusual architecture. But im running into problems with framerates and bot pathing.

I know that correct zoning is crucial to achieving decent framerates, but i dont know what im doing wrong.

If possible i would like to mail my 1/3rd completed CTF map to someone, so they can take a look and point me in the right direction!

Any takers, Who wants to save my sanity?

don't worry about pathing until your level is complete from a structural point of view. Why waste time carefully placing pathnodes & tweaking them only to remove & redesign part of the level? Do pathing last, or at least when you're to the point where the buildings are done and you're playing with textures.

As for zoning, I use sheets as zone portals to seal off rooms, hallways etc There's a tutorial here:
