Here's another resurrection from an old thread.
____________________
I couldn't hum any of the built-in UT music if you held a knife to my throat. However, when I'm not playing without music at all, I do sometimes connect an external CD player to the line in on my sound card. This lets me play with a CD of my choice and the UT sound effects coming out of the stereo at the same time. Here are my top five picks for UT music:
1. Cul de Sac: Crashes to Light, Minutes to its Fall
2. Tortoise: Tortoise
3. Batman: Original Score for the first movie by Danny Elfman
4. Add N to (X): Avant Hard
5. Lusk: Free Mars
I'm impressed with the way the right soundtrack can sometimes coincide with something in the game beautifully, as if it were planned.
I *usually* have all music off. But sometimes on public servers I put stuff on (not the UT music), IN THE BACKGROUND, not loud enough to disturb the game (that's why having an external box is nice, I can turn it down easily without much thought).
I dunno, it's kind of like how I sometimes play with high res high detail anti aliased.. for fun, although usually I use a lower res.
What do you guys listen to while fragging?

Hearing this music while playing makes UT fantastic.
- Music is verbal soul.

Dos'nt PlanetUnreal.com have a 'Screenshots' section for UT like PlanetHalfLife does? If it does...where is it located at?

The Doors tune conjured up an amusing image, very badass:D!
Heh, Mission Impossible! Great! The perfect Assault and CTF tune? Maybe!
Live and Let Die in a TDM? Excellent! All your selections are damn, damn good.

Is there anyway to take say, MP3's and convert them into uax files
do you mean uaxes (ut's sound files) or umxes (ut's music files)? more likely than not, you would have to convert those mp3s into wavs before converting them into uaxes/umxes.. and unless uaxes are different from umxes, the file will be around 10megs per minute of sound (ie; 5min song would be 50megs)
otherwise, if I listen to any music while playing UT, I listen to UT's music.. most if it is awesome in my opinion; hell, I even have a few of the UT tracks in my modplug playlist that I listen to when I'm not playing UT

(BoD) nepenthe,
The Mission Impossible themes great for assualt, like when you sneaking along past the enemy.
I would really recommend you get a copy of O Fortuna - Carl Orff (Theme to Conan the Barbarian) it always makes me feel so powerful. I love building up rockets and timeing it so all six are launched just as the music hits the second rise.
And get a copy of Agnus Dei. I got mine from the Homeworld game. Play it while sitting up high in CTF Face as the earth swings up over the asteriod. Breathtaking. :) Music like Live and Let die really add punch to rocket launches.
I love music that starts off slow, like when your running towards the enemy, and then the music explodes, and you just throw yourself at your victums, blasting away to the music.
Theres probably been a few times I've looked strange to the other players as I run along fireing off the mini-gun or flak cannon in time to some song. :D

You rock!
Obviously, you have FUN playing UT, man!
You take it one step further, not waiting for the music and the action to coincide, you just MAKE it coincide, awesome.
I was hoping somebody would answer with this kinda post.
I can see what you're talking about in Face, with that music and the Earth bigger than your screen silhouetting the opposite tower.
I think I'll play with music more often now.:)
