View Full Version : Exporting Textures In UED2
Cybis
17th Jul 2000, 11:44 PM
I have just started using UED2 today and I already see a problem in exporting textures into BMP/PCX format! So I click on a texture in the texture browser, then select Export to PCX. Then the Save dialog box comes up. When I type in a file name and select "save", nothing happens. Does this problem happen to everybody, or just me?
The reason I wanted to export a texture was to convert it into a BMP then use it as a background in the 2D shape editor. It would be REALLY nice if the 2d shape editor could display textures WITHOUT having to convert them into BMP's first!!! I hope the 421 patch allows that option!!!

wow, talk about a super bump...
i've never had the export problem before, but i agree that the 2d ed's bmp limitation is rather annoying... :con:

THIS IS DEFINITELY AN FAQ :p
/goes to post in faq comment thread :D
Urghhh.... i gotta document this problem. everyone has it :p.
Right click on the texture choose export to .pcx,
In the save dialog choose save as type > all file types,
Now save the file as anyname.bmp - the 2ded can only open .bmp textures :p,
Now from within the 2ded choose file > image > get from disk.
Now it should be fine .......

Wait a minute, the texture still won't be saved!
Not as bmp nor pcx, it just isn't on my HD after I clicked the 'save' button.

ghey prob, try to save with the exact same name and check the log after exporting, maybe that tells you anything
or else get an external prog wich alows exporting, like utx viewer

It should just work like when you save a txt file as a html file by telling your computer it is of "all files" type and making the extension its desired type. Worked for me, but I don't have that problem anymore so I couldn't double check sorry >_<

As I already said, that doesn't work...
But hey, who cares, I 'll just do it with UTX-viewer now.
