I know how to do it. And I can still do it with the old editor but since I upgraded UT to patch 4.20(editor ver. 2.0) I can't import or export textures. I goto the texture pack I want and select the texture I want and select export. It let's me save it as a PCX(done it before) but when I goto the directory where I saved it nothing is there. Same thing happens when I try to import. It lets me select a .pcx file. And when I hit import it just resets whatever texture pack(.utx) Im on to "botpack". And it doesn't add the .pcx file I had selected. WTF? I know this topic was probably already covered but if anyone knows what's up with it please fill me in.

Thanks.

Hey,
Go get IView. To import textures, they must have no more that 256 colors. Iview will convert them to 256. You can also only import pcx files. I always export to the desktop.

No offense, but if you read my post I said "I know how to do it. And I can still do it with the old editor...". I have all my pictures in 256 color. And they're in .pcx format. And they're resolution is a power of 2(i.e. 2048x2048, 512x512, etc.). So that's NOT the problem. I can take these same pictures on my server(another computer) and using the editor on the server I can import them into a .utx file. However on MY computer(which is running UnrealEd 2.0) it doesn't work. Please don't tell me to just use the old editor, because I don't like it. The new one is much better, except for that small point. I don't know why else these pictures would not be importing. Also if you noticed in my first post, I said I cannot EXPORT as well. So the format of the picture would have nothing to do with that. I tried exporting from several different .utx files(all which came with the game, and one which I made myself), and still nothing happened. PLEASE HELP...

It seems that the the new editor was severely under-tested - this happens to me as well, and I can also not export/import brushes either :(

Do the names of the directories you're exporting to/importing from contain any spaces? If so, you should try using directory names w/o any spaces, as UEd2 is known to have difficulties with them.

There's no spaces in my paths either. So that's not the problem. I haven't tried to import/export brushes though. That's pretty lame that they would overlook something like that. Has anyone else had this problem besides Aphex and myself??

Ahh soo, young grasshoppa, you must look beyound for the answer ;)

seriously though, some things to check:

1. The almighty log, does it report an error when you import? If it does, what is it?

2. When importing, you must specify a GROUP name, this cannot be left blank.

3. For brushes, try exporting to the maps directory.

Let see how it goes :)

i know what you mean Unrealed 2 is brilliant but buggy
i found that the only way to import new textures so they work was to save the pcx files in the unreal textures also to export you have to save them to the unreal textures folder directory then try. the only thing was that after i put them in the editor they appeared and worked but when i built the map they changed to another texture so god knows if there is anyone out who can help me please do infact if possible email me. Also i dont know why but i cant seem to create a new utx file when i do i import a file in and save it into a utx file called say mylevel but it also saves the textures from the file the browser is open with and i have no idea on how to turn off all the textures also it sometimes saves my textures into the menu above the type selection e.g ceiling floor and it doesnt save them into the utx file anyway sorry i havcent been much help oh yeh so if you can help mail me please

You're not making much sense Agent_Nord. Fear the Beard, as far as you said, I checked all those things...logs, yes I had a group name(but it does the same for export TOO), brushes I still haven't tried cause I have no real need for that right now. So if you have any other suggestions let me know.

hmm, damn, that's weird, guess you'll have to wait for the patch :(

Yes sorry that didnt make much sense here how i manged to import and export textures:

First save all the files as pcx with 256 colours in to the unrealtournament/textures folder

Then open Unrealed 2 and open the texture browser
Next select file import and browse to the textures folder and double clickt he file you want to import.

Now when it brings up a little menu enter the info like the name of the package i.e.: the name of your utx file
then name of the group i.e: floor ceiling etc
now click ok

personally when i do this the texture browser goes back to the textures i had opened before i imported the file but dont worry if this happens just click the top pull down menu and browse to find the name you named your package. Now select that package and your textures should be there now click file in the menu and click save and name it the name you want the utx file to be and youre done

...so the key is using the Textures directory basically?
