Please tell me how to fix bad ping!!!

Yes, I am a 56K modem user and it's expected to be a bad on-line gaming experience. But, it's way bad that I am warping all over the place. In rare occasion, it is pinging around mid 200,but still. Most of the time, it is 400 to 2000. This makes me not want to play this game even though I do love UT. Please somebody tell me a good website that i can figure out the proper way of tweaking a modem. Or just tell me how here. Please

I'm also a 56ker, sounds like your problem is your ISP and your modem. I don't use any modem tweaking. So get a new isp something like Earthlink and if your modem is not hardware replace it, win modems sux. I have USR PCI Gamming Modem(Hardware modem) and it Rox. I get sub 200 pings.

As well as everything MD said, bug your phone comapny too, it could be that you have a lot of noise on your line. Just get them to checvk it, and if there is something wrong the tell them to get it sorted.

I'm a 56er to and it sucks! ( Iusually connect at 33.333) I think I have tried EVERY modem tweak, optimizer that exists! The USR gameing modem does help!

I'm running WIN98 OSR2 so if your a different operating system these may not help! Use at you own risk

Bindings= only TCP/IP
Dialup Adapter Advanced properties
Disable Point to Point
IP Packet size=Auto
Record log file=No
Use IPX Header Compression=No

Good Luck!

One last thing, after you scan for servers, wait untill its finished and then re-ping all servers a few time to get a more accurate ping.

To the above statement:

Its not a "Hardware Modem" but because its hardware requirments is only a 386 it uses very little CPU time.
