The world has been brainwashed not to care. And not to turn this into a religious debate, (actually another part of the brainwashing is that even bringing up God incites some sort of nerdrage reaction) but I guess the bible had something right when it said "the love of many shall wax cold" in the last generations. Whether or not you believe in the bible's version of the end of the world, many seem to believe it's nigh.. 2012, comets, nuclear threats, global warming, alien invasions etc. Personally I think that even despite that or all the stuff there is (or they want you to think there is) to be depressed/stressed/jaded about, once you stop caring and stop loving, that's a pretty sad existence.
