Hey guys, one quick question: Are there any free modeling programs for unreal that will work with UT? Im beginning work on a new mod for UT and im looking to make some new player models. Thanks /~unreal/ubb/html/wink.gif

The only free ones that I know require that you sell your soul, have lots of bandwidth, and tylonel for all the headaches that you'll get.

Oh, if you do happen to "swipe" a copy of 3d Studio Max, I suggest going to Nerve Damage ( http://www.nervedamage.com/ ). Darkleige (sic?) pointed this out to me and it's a great place to learn about 3d modeling.

You can find a great program: Milkshape 3D at: http://www.swissquake.ch/chumbalum-soft/
It is a good (and shareware) alternative to create Half Life models with skins & animation.
This program can (or should) convert your creation to 3ds format, that can be used to make Unreal models. As for UT models... I have no idea if it works or not :-(
Telling the truth I have no idea about modelling, but I am learning...

Milkshape does not currently support Unreal/UT directly but I have been in touch with Mete Ciragan, its author, and he is doing the research to put it in. I have provided him with the format specs, etc. and he said he MIGHT be able to get it into the official December release. You could still use the 3ds route but I think that is currently disabled in the beta. Final version will be $100 which is dirt cheap for a modelling program that does what Milkshape does. Of course selling your soul might be cheaper /~unreal/ubb/html/wink.gif.
