I would have thought that most of UT would be OK after the watershed, particularly when you consider the violence/effects in many films broadcast at that time.

There again, maybe not.

UPDATE: Just found out that Noel Edmonds will be the presenter. He will also have the role of an admin, using a custom skin in team games (some kind of multicoloured jumper/sweater), spamming your screen constantly with inane chatter, and have god-mode on - so no matter what, you just can't get rid of him.
He will however be limited to the use of the gunge gun only.

I stumbled over an update on the Unreal TV Tournament here (http://www.fgnonline.com/news/13986.html)

It looks like the show will be out this autumn. I had to laugh at the sniper rifle being described as not acceptable to public taste and decency :) I guess a HEADSHOT is not classed as family viewing.

Somehow i think hardcore UT players will find that show a farce.

UT will be played on commercial adjusted maps, so the adience can see someting too, enforcer, minigun, snipergun are removed.

It has to be "acceptable to the viewing public in taste and decency" which removes the taunts, and giblets, no bloodgore around.
All the "spice" of UT seem to be left out for the public.

Further i think that the moralgeeks have now more to whine about of senceless violence on TV i hope not, but knowing those whiners, they grab any excuse to ban such games.

I do like the idear of an UT/FPS gameshow, don't get me wrong, but i think the genereal public isn't ready for it :(

I heard they are going to remove the rocket launcher because it uses explosives, which could be construed as support for certain terrorist groups.

Also going are the ripper (promotes incorrest use of sharp knives), the redeemer (due to pressure from greenpeace and other anti-nuclear groups), the shockrifle (electricity is dangerous!), the Biorifle (makes bad hygiene acceptable to small children, and Anti-GM activists have protested against the use of biologicaly augmented material), the Flack Cannon (war veterans may find references to flack disrespectfull or offensive), and finally - the plasma gun is also under question due to copyright infringements with StarTrek(tm).

LOL

That leaves the impact hammer, which would have to be removed as it would encourage violence in the DIY community.

I think you're right B_S. I suspect that the show will be transmitted early evening and, as a result, the game will end up being a tame, watered down version :( It would be better to leave the "spice" in and transmit after the watershed (9pm in the UK)

Hmm, even after the "watershed" in UK a lot of it would still be "unaceptable" - I agree with B_S that the mainstream aren't ready for this on the TV - although a surprising amount of people ARE okay with it on computers. But we'll not head down *that* route, thank you very much ;)
