My vote would have to go to the Flood Carrier from the Halo Games. They just look creepy with thier fat heads and the way they slowly chase you.

Evans, the tentacle-raping penis demon from the end of Breath of Fire 2.

Evans when he is a Jesus look a like, DethEvn when he turns into that thing.

As for creepy monster, I go with Pyramid Head. He had sex with mannequins for god sake

I'm not quite sure. But the huge alien mother in Turok 2 (I think) with the long whip-fingers was something to be afraid of back then.

Other than that, the brown tentacle creatures (Yeah I know you like Bob) with the eye out of water in Star Wars: Shadow of the empire. They freaked me out really bad. Made me not want to go underneath until they were all dead. And if went there with one still alive, I flipped out.

I was 8 or so during all this.

Those aliens from avp were kinda creepy. The first couple of times they'd come running at you at high speeds through those silent, long corridors....
I loved it!

The trites from doom3. Man, what annoying bastards they are.

The Darkness. Its appearance, behaviour, voice (superb voice acting btw) and generally just the way it uses its host body makes it probably the most creepy creature I've seen in a video game.

Most of the guys from quake (http://www.denken.com/dzone/q1article005.htm) - the zombies, scrags, ogres, shamblers, fiends... just about everybody except the enforcers and rottweilers. The enemies from SS2 were freaky also and I hated it how they talked which made it even worse. Octobrains from dn3d - the sounds they made just made it worse. I guess being 8-12 when I played most of these games didn't help either. I was a sissy now and I guess I still kinda am today, though none of the recent games have made me scared like those games did - except for the beginning of the avp2 marine campaign, the antartica level in nolf2 and bits of doom3.

I hope you realize they completely redid it because of how not scary and creepy it was because of how ridiculously stupid and perverted it looks as if it's catering to 13 year old gamers. ;)

In fact that's pretty much porn your posting, because it's definitely not a scary monster.

Okay, actually you're right, that is creepy if you consider it from that point of view.

All I see from Al is a blank post...so what's going on there?

Anyways I feel like I want to rescind my previous statement. Pyramid head wasn't nearly as creepy as the town Silent Hill itself. And you'd be ****ting yourself if you think that town wasn't alive. And out to get you.

...You'd hear them. You wouldn't see them. Crawling, just out of your peripheral vision. In the shadows. Down there, in the basement. Boney legs crawling on metal. Your motion tracker was useless; you'd throw flares and maybe squirt some napalm in an erratic manner toward the white bleep. But more often than not, it would not be there. Then you'd hear it. The silence. It stopped moving. And before you knew what was going on...

ARRHGHGHGHGHRHRHHHH!!!!!

On many, many seperate occasions I blew myself up with grenades in a blind panic to try to hit those crawling bastards. Actually, 95% of my time playing AvP was spent in blind panic, but the huggies were especially terrifying.

Oh man, I know exactly what you mean. I'd have my pulse gun out, combing the ground and suddenly I'd see it scuttle by...and I'd totally freak and press the wrong firing mode, launching a grenade right into the ground not far from my nuts. I did this more times than I can count. But that's not as funny as one time when I was in a corner, waiting to see one of them move around somewhere, when suddenly my screen just went "FACE'D!" and I slide my wrist violently, punching one of my speakers off the desk.

I'm not someone who gets unnerved easily in video games. But I hate facehuggers.

This was the thing you had to run from while jumping over the black slugs with deadly spikes and make it to a rope to swing around him while its chasing you. Haven't experienced that frantic fear since. Awesome game. While DOOM3 and other games offer visually more terrifying creatures I think that in this context this one wins. IMO

Hah, I think I did that too at one point actually. A friend of mine has a similar reaction to Doom 3's spider things, and I was like, "Yeah, you haven't played AvP have you."

I remember one time I'd read a recommendation that the flamethrower was the best way of dealing with facehuggers (riiiight...), and I ended up backpedalling and getting chased through half of the Vaults by the tiny mofo. I ended up getting ganged up on and eaten by five aliens, and I still didn't manage to hit the facehugger.

If you manage to set them on fire, they can't FACE you, actually. When I figured that out, the flamethrower was my best friend in Facehugger lairs. I don't know if that applied to AVP2 though.
