We have had a good showing from developers using Unreal Engine 3. Bioshock, Mass Effect, just to name some big ones. With new information on the game coming out and jaw dropping rain effects being generally regarded as the best in a game yet how do you guys think this game will do? Your thoughts.

From what I've seen Gearbox has put a striking level of detail into the game down to the dirt under Baker's nails. This is my prediction. I think that this game will set a new bar for first person shooters. I believe we will see great characters and an incredible story based around the events. While many of you already think this game will be great I think it will come out and blow people away.

So, just a genral discussion on the game. What would you like to see? What have you seen that you dislike? Things of that nature.

For me I've heard a lot about the scale of the game. That Gearbox has made a game in which you feel like this huge war is raging all around you. I wold like to see a step up in AI and I think this game is likely to do that becaue Gearbox has focused on AI all the while with the BIA games.

I'd be happy if they hired a writer that didn't parade out the same freaking stories with the same stock characters I've seen in every single WWII movie. Since that's not going to happen, I'm hoping the AI is better than the previous games, a little more aware of the fact that they're being flanked.

Oh, I thought Baker and Heartsock were good characters and they're making a return. You know the old country boy who grew up on a farm fighting in WW2 stereotype. Well that was my grandfather. So I think you may be mistaking stock characters for time period authenticity. Can you be more specific? Speaking of movies though Band of Brothers had some characters that were unique. Don't know if you've seen that but its great. I just don't exactly understand what you mean not arguing with ya.

Yeah the AI in the old BIA games was good but I think it would be cool to see some cowards. A guy who breaks away and runs when he thinks he screwed. I really hope I see that in the game. I mean thats war, and nobody is going to engage an entire company. They're going to run. I hope they thought of that. One cool thing is that your own guys will mess up. When running somewhere occasionaly one will trip and eat it which makes it mroe realistic.

I think thats a good sign for the AI.

Eh, just because it happened doesn't mean it's worth telling AGAIN. The thing I'm railing about is that there are ways to make these things new and interesting even with the saturation of WWII movies/games/books already, and BIA has never done that. They simply present your standard Americans in your stand WWII situation. I'm simply tired of it and would like something fresh.

I agree that Band of Brothers was a good take on it, a decent emotional spin. That's exactly what I would like: something authentic, yes, but still new. Like I said though, I'm not really expecting that, I mean, it's only a videogame ;-)
