Cake, they had to prove it either way for tax reasons.
Cake goes hard when stale, biscuit goes soft - Jaffa Cakes go hard so there's no VAT on them.

Yeah, I remember that one. But the debate was everywhere at the time!

Are there other companies that make a similar product? I swear I've had a strawberry version before.

Oh, and to stay on topic: Scientology is a sucky cult blah blah blah...

Yeah, there's a company that produces something similar in Europe, name eludes me much though.

Thanks. I was beginning to wonder if my memory was worse than I thought. A Bosnian co-worker actually brought in some orange ones last week. They were my breakfast.

"Jaffa" makes me think of SG1, and how the language expert Daniel Jackson never pronounces "Jaffa" or "Goa'uld" correctly.

The thread title doesn't seem to match the content within.
Jaffa Cakes are a biscuit/cake hybrid btw.

Lies.

Cake biscuit hybrids are a physical impossibility.

Out of this thread, and take your lies with you.

Why would you not want to eat it now that you put the special sauce on it?

Last one to spooge on it eats it. It's the rules.

Jaffa Cakes. Best of all the cakes. Don't let the size fool you, they are still cakes.

Just because they are in the biscuit aisle in the supermarket doesn't mean they are biscuits. The shelf stockers are WRONG.

I bought 72 Jaffa Cakes the other week, 2 boxes of 36 for £2.40 or so. They had no best before date on them though, probably why they were so cheap. Apparently its illegal to sell things without a date on? Oh well. They got eaten quickly anyway.
