My female cat had five kittens on Monday. I found one of them dead this morning. Four to five hours ago before I went to sleep I was worried because it didn't seem to be suckling and slept apart from the other kittens. Perhaps I should have avoided handling it and perhaps I should have set it aside, but it's too late now.
Nature is cruel and it makes you think that a living being can pass away in less than a day while us humans we waste each other's lives away years at a time.

Some people just don't care ->
I've been looking after this beautiful and friendly cat for the past two years. The first time I saw her, she was underfed and well.. she looked horrible/bewildered. An abandoned cat. This wasn't some poor stray cat, you know. This was a burmese.
I'm not sure what happened to her. She must've been beaten, or yelled at. A lot. A hell of a lot. This cat is so sweet, but so traumatised.
She knows me. I've never hurt her, and I never will. But sometimes, when I make a quick movement she recoils in fear. And shortly after, she seems to "recognise" me again... and all is well. But, she's so easily startled. Especially when I try to pat her on the head.
:/
Damn it, some people shouldn't have any pets.
Azura: Shame man. I've had the pleasure of looking after kittens on several occasions, so far all have survived. Yet, one seems to forget how fragile they can be.

Eh, that's awful. A stray dog in the neighbourhood my girlfriend lives in had nine puppies some days ago and last night one of them died as well. She's devastated. :(

It's unfortunate, but sometimes the mother just doesn't want to take care of all of her babies. You can try, but unless you can be there to feed the kitten with a special formula from a dropper every 30 mins or so, it's just going to end in more heartache.

sounds like daddy experience where you got to get up every couple hours in the night or the misses in the house will be so sad and angry at you for letting newly acquired fluffles suffer...
