I'm not sure about getting it, D2D has it for $49 just today. I'd like to get some feedback before buying it. I'm really not a fan of piracy either so it's either buy or skip. Lately I've been watching some reviews about the AI improvements and stuff like that, but I don't want to do the same error again, buy it for the PC and get the worse performance on earth on a Q6600/8800 GTS.

Some features got me interested, Namely, the level editor (apparently), new weapons (http://rainbowsixgame.us.ubi.com/weapons.php), bullet penetration and sprint.

Anyone can confirm this here?

I'd just skip; it sounds to me like its the same as the original game, but with a few extra features to draw you in to spending your hard earned cash on something you already have.

Oh ****, just noticed steam has it too. Screw D2D. :-)

You add the -editor tag to the shortcut, start it, but then that slash screen pops up, and then it realizes you don't have the proper directory, and then closes. Same thing with Medal of Honor: Airborne, try the " -editor" tag in the shortcut, it'll begin to load, and then cutout with an error message.

I'm skipping it for the sheer fact that it's a cheap, wanna-be R6 game.

You know those used to be about the standard for FPS realism, now it's just another arcade shooter

But to each his own, if that's what you want don't ask us for our opinions. I'm sure the gameplay is still fun and all, however I don't believe it deserves the title of Rainbow.

I didn't really asked if you guys liked the game or not, I more likely asking if the game was well optimized for the PC. The previous version of Vegas was abysmal on the PC. The worse port on earth.

Well, it doesn't run nearly as good as other UE3 games on the PC, but if you have an 8800-series and a good CPU, you should be fine.
(But yes, it does run better than the first one)

Could you justify "Better" please? The first version is so 100% unacceptable, that just "Better" isn't even worth it. I want good framerates, so to say, being locked at 60 FPS, which is completely impossible with the first version no matter how I changed my detail settings when moving around.

Thanks.

I loved the ending where you fought a massive lag boss so you could see a stupid missile explode or something.

You'll often hit weird times where you'll basically be stuck at 30fps, so maybe it's sorta like running UT3 with multisampling turned on. :)

Really bouncy framerate.

Does it happen often or just in story mode with level streaming?
What about Multiplayer or Terrorist Hunt?

I noticed it more in open areas, regardless of gameplay mode. I haven't had much time to play it though.
Edit:
Had a chance to play it some more, and it is seeming to run bad like the other R6V on PC after the first level.
It's like the first level played good, then after that, it's all 30fps or so for most of the "action time" like the older game. :(

My bro just told me, some 15 minutes ago, that Vegas 2 runs BETTER on his rig than Vegas 1 does.

this game isn't that great. Just like the first one. COD4 is where it's at man.

I just bought the game.

Story: Quite awesome, much better than the previous vegas.

Terrorist hunt: Poop. Literally, poorly designed multiplayer maps with really bad optimizations. The multiplayer levels don't feel right for Terrorist hunt, it's really something to avoid, AIs haven't even changed a bit, they also have hax w/ reaction times.

You will want to stay near the spawn point, and wait for them to come at you.

Multiplayer: Can't give my entire feedback on this, but so far it's almost worser than TH. I joined a stupid dedicated server with the competitive rules, such as no respawning, and friendly fire. :con: It's the only server that has players playing so far. There was that guy on my team who said it was too easy to win, he kept killing the other team with a pistol just to prove his leetness.

Now the fun fact is, I killed someone on the other team with a nade (Probably his kill), then he shot me and betrayed me. Then he said he was sorry, my ass. I just quietly left without a word. There was only UI loading action and a few kills, what the **** are these guys playing? I don't want to be a part of this god damn boredom.

Long loading times too. At least the Story mode is good so far.
If I'd have to give this game a rating, it would be near 6.9/10 Nothing more.

WTF.
Man, Montrealais are retards. Especially the ones who have made this game.

I still don't get why they give me a terrorist count of 40 when I saw "low", FFS. It's cramped level design with barely any sniper opportunities. I want Calypso Casino back you ****ers.

Jonathan

Yes, "low" apparently means "only two terrorists per square foot." :D

I miss the old R6 where you had tons of options, like set the terrorist count, chose your teammates and do all all their gears. The levels were actually missions, not stupid multiplayer maps. And kismet did exist, so the terrorists were all already spawned.

It's the way it should be. I'd prefer low smart terrorist count that appears as the game start, that don't know you're there if you use silencer. No "Walk on trigger to spawn" BS please. I'm sorry to say, but who ever got in charge of making Terrorist hunt playable terribly failed, and should go sell shoes right now.

It's exactly the same as it was in the previous Vegas, but way worse.

I still don't get why they give me a terrorist count of 40 when I saw "low", FFS.It's fifteen. The Density option resets if you back out from the match setup menu.

Heck, my brother does it all the time when he hosts; Want a Youtube for proof, kiddo?

Regardless, Vegas 2 proves as usual that Vista's just plain bad. You have to deliberately off your IPv6 prot's to host on Vista, plus it apparently has on-off issues with installing PunkBuster (which is practically required for a full Vegas 2 install) .. Not to mention my cousin had to disable his firewall 4 times before Vista go the point. But I digress..

Imho, Vegas 2 is a strong improvement from Vegas.. Though I wouldn't really have bought Vegas 1 in the first place (since I tried the demo, anyway). The last true Rainbow experience ended in Athena Sword.

Everyone on their official forums is complaining about the removal of random spawn in TDM and spawn camping rape. I lol'ed. They really didn't improve. The fun fact is, compared to Epic, they don't delete threads, nor lock them.
