[news] Massive outbreak of new Virus

So far over 134,347 people have been infected in just the US alone. Apparently it started in the mid-west, and is spreading rapidly out wards. The total infected count is rising rapidly too.

So far they say by the morning, almost 1.2 million people will be infected. The symptoms are horrible too. Bleeding from all openings, flesh rotting away within hours, and convulsions.

It has been nearly 4 hours since the US has declared Marshal Law on the entire Midwest due to an outbreak of a unknown virus. All cities and towns are being blocked off, as no one can get in, and no one can get out. The Army has sent out troops across the middle of the US to help try to keep things under control. So far 134, 347 reports of infected people have been reported.

"It sounds like something right out of a Hollywood horror movie", says Dr. Jeremy McLeod of the CDC. "I assure you, it's not though", he went on to say.

The White House has planned a speech by both head CDC member Dr. Julie Gerberding, and president Bush. They will address to the nation about a possible terrorist attack or if this is just a fluke outbreak.

The FBI and CIA have closed down all flights around the country to help stop the spread of the virus.

No one knows for sure how the virus transmits as of yet. Speculation is that it is transfered by contact. Thousands of victims say that they were bitten by someone who was already infected. The virus takes over the body within an hour of contact.

The CDC has said more than three-quarters of laboratory-confirmed cases are a type of the virus that is typically associated with severe outbreaks that bring higher hospitalization and death rates.

Update; 1 hour ago:

Reports from the US say that people who are infected with the virus are killing others around them. The new virus has been called the epidemic of our century.



So I guess these "infected" people are like zombies or something now? Running around killing people? This really does sound like something from a movie :/

I'm locked down here in Texas. Police are everywhere. Constant patrols in our part. The weather sirens are going off. The local news is telling us to stock up on things and hunker down.

I've got my shotguns and 2 pistols. I'm headed off to the store now to get what's left of food and ammo. I only hope that some of the people around here haven't heard the news yet.

The jets and helicopters have been taking off for the past 30 mins from the Army base I live next too. It's been pretty non stop. I can hear the air raid sirens going off too. It's a really creepy feeling.

I can't see anyone on the streets. Just the occasional police car and army unit patrol.

Anyways, I made it back in time before the now curfew we have. My neighbors are here too. They brought over all their stuff and we're gonna try to hold out as long as we can here in my place.

We got the news on, so hopefully more info will be available to us.

Right now they're speculating the source of the infection is in China and that apparently it takes a bit longer for symptoms to appear if you were infected via implanted organs. So they're saying that the virus probably eventaully spread overseas via illegal donor organs. Guess we now know what all the grounded flights were for, huh?

Either way, they're suggesting you simply keep your doors locked and windows shut. Right now they're bringing in sniffer dogs to screen for the virus, and they'll probably begin screening and evacuation in high-risk zones soon. Sit tight, I guess.

Earlier today I saw a guy on the street acting very, very strange and only half a minute later 5 or 6 ... I don't know what they where, some kind of swat ninjas, jumped out of a black van and caught him with some kind of net gun and a couple of tasers. They dragged him into the van and drove off. Just like that. It was totally unreal and it happened so fast. O_o

A neighbor who was closer to the scene told me the guy had blood on his face and he chewed on a finger. A finger!

I just encountered a greyhound bus full of em. It was stopped and they were just walking on and off wandering around and pointing at stuff. Anyways I grabbed the gun from under my seat and started shooting. After taking out the ones outside the bus. Once inside I was greeted by a horrible smell and one almost jumped on me, you wouldn't believe how bad their breath smells and their teeth or should I say the teeth they still had were in horrible shape.
Anyways as I was nearing the back of the bus one of them started screaming in what sounded like broken english that they were from Brittan and were taking a tour of the states. Not knowing if it was some sort of zombie trick or if maybe perhaps it could be telling the truth I decided to lock those that remained in the bus. Now I just have to figure out if I need to finish the job or high tail it down the road.

Maybe I should setup a poll?

Rofl, that reminds me on a bus trip with a friend of mine when we were just 17.
The night before the trip we had tested the different red and white wines his father had stored in his cellar. Needless to say that we got wasted. The next morning we barely made it out of bed and went to the bus station, because we had promised his sister to accompany her on this day trip. On arrival we noticed there were only old people around - i mean really old. And the first thing my buddy said was: "Oh NO, night of the living dead!"
That cracked me up big time. So while I couldnt stop giggling we found our seats, and my friend was still babbeling senseless stuff. This one old lady felt somehow disturbed about that and looked over to us and gave us a mean face. My buddy - still drunk from the day before - noticed it, raised his butt in her direction and gave her the loudest fart i´ve heard before.
