So how do you test a level without cooking it? Which files do you move, etc? This was discussed before the crash, but I cannot remember the details.

Thanks for your time. :)

Easy, name the file appropriately to the map type DM-Name/CTF-Name/WAR-Name and save, then in the editor right click and hit play from here.

No, actually when you do that in the editor, it cooks/compresses the textures, unless I'm not checking a setting?

I click on "defer compression" when importing, but I don't see the settings to disable compression like I saw in some of the older tutorials for older version of UnrealEd.

I mean testing it in the retail-game, on "Instant Action".

I don't know if this is what you're referring to, but you can play your map in-game without actually cooking by saving in the Unpublished folder and running UT3.exe with the extension "-useunpublished".

Ex.:"../Unreal Tournament 3\Binaries\UT3.exe" -useunpublished"

Are you confusing "Cooking" with "Building"?

Must be something like that cuz the in game play test doesn't cook anything.

Yes, when I jumped in the game (it had already been built), the Editor froze for about 30-40 seconds (like it does when importing BIG textures), then loaded, with all the maps compressed when I rechecked the package file.

The only option I checked was "Defer Compression" so perhaps it did it when you first jump in-game in the editor, apparently.
