View Full Version : [ O*] Headshots - I think I got it right this time!

So after last week of doing some headshots and them turning out to be portrait shots I have taken the advice of everyone and did another shoot. This time I did the photo shoot with another girl. She is photogenic but is not without challenges. She has burns on her body as you may notice. I worked really hard to focus on other areas and to keep those spots in minimal view. She by far is not embarrassed or ashamed of it which is very inspiring to me. As with all headshots, keep the airbrushing from minimal to null since you want to show a person at their best but not so far overboard that it becomes a glamour shot. Her complexion otherwise was flawless and I didn’t need to do much of any post processing other than sharpening and some levels/curves/contrast work.

On a side note I'm a fan of J T smiths work from supershoots.com and never quite understood how he was able to get such vibrant colors in his work till now. It’s all about light bounce. I honestly used little to no saturation adjustments in the first image. It just didn't need it. I just wish I could have gotten that much bounce on all of the poses. :-)

C&C Welcome!

She must wear contacts. Normal eyes usually don't reflect that much, unless you were crying only a minute beforehand. Or you could just be weird.

Awesome! First 3 and 5th are fantastic.

As Sel said, she has amazing eyes...and a fantastic smile. I've a feeling I'm commenting more on the subject than the actual images though...

...Uhm...

Beautiful job all around!

1st and 3rd shots are my favorite. Her hair in the first shot looks awsome.

In the 4th shot everyone is refering to it looks to me like she has more of a "what are you looking at" expression as opposed to being self conscience about anything.

Thanks for the feed back guys. She was wearing contacts but that doesnt seem to effect the reflective qualities of your eyes. To me it seems the same. What your seeing is a lot of bounce light from different sources. When you get enough of it... the eyes really sparkle and the color really pops. :-)

I've got more lined up this week. I look forward to working with her again.
