yeah the effcts they used for nightcrawler in X2 was pimp, well see how the rest of them stack up to him in the new one. Cyclops eye beams was going crazy in that trailer I was like wtf was that, and Iceman freezing a whole lake in seconds oh its going to be a good one.

@kortniechan i'm with you on that it looks good thus far lets just hope they keep one the striaght and narrow with it.

Dear Vinne Jones,

Could you perhaps tell me who your agent is? They seem to be able to perform miracles by keeping you in work. I can let roles like your one in Submerged (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0416243/) pass, your "Its not ****ing chess line" being true poetry and a worthy contribution to the art of acting, but when you are cast in a high budget comic book adaptation I begin to wonder.

If your agent is good enough to land you such roles then perhaps they will be able to get me in next summer's surefire feelgood rom-com hit. I believe my acting talent and credentials are on a par with yours and should be enough to land such high paying jobs.

Regards,

Mazza

Cyclops = boring, Gambit = hell yes. So yea you do have to wonder what the hell is going on with that one. Maybe they thought the films could only handle the one really rebelious one.

Gambit is a hard and complicated character to introduce and a story would have to use him as a pivotal element for it to work well. Also, what with being a highly stylised character with an outrageus accent he's a huge risk factor. He could be done poorly very easily.

Personally i wanted to see either Beast or Gambit in one of these movies, preferably both. Beast makes up for the lack of Gambit thus far. Also i can't help but feel that currently, in the movie, rogue is a bit young for gambit.

I will eventually rent Xmen3 with a couple other movies so I can have a movie marathon weekend.
The weekends are the greatest thing in the world ever invented. Anyway back on subject it looks good, but it hasn't caught my eye. I'm actually going to the movies to see Liberty, Libertine, and V for Vendetta not all in the same day, but those really have my attention.
Xmen3 is another rent it see if I like then I buy it kind of thing.

I was annoyed he wasnt even in the second one, the fact that he's not in the third either is really going overboard. Ok, having beast rocks, but gambit and his glowy playing cards is just sweet, plus he has that fine jacket.

Mister_Prophet

Gambit was mentioned in the second movie, but that's probably as far as it will go. Doesn't hurt to hope though.

As for the comment about Wolverine taking up most of show...look....he WAS easily the most popular character in the series. I mean for a lot of people, X-Men didn't become X-Men until his character was introduced. I can understand him being the main attraction.

That's what I was referring too. I felt like a huge geek when Mystique was typing something in the computer and I saw the name "Remy" and I nearly shouted "Holy crap Gambit's on the monitor!"

I was a pre-Gambit X-men comic collector, so I don't know much about him. But I agree that Cyclops is boring.

I'd like to see them do up Havok, though, even if just for a cameo.

Mister_Prophet

Cyclops is that one straight edge, Jock-ish character that always falls into the team leader role in all these hero groups. Like Leonardo in the Ninja turtles, Commander Riker in Star Trek: Next Gen, or Luke Skywalker...it's the boring-wannabe-cool-but-just-too-annoyingly-flat character.

On another note, I never really liked Storm. She had the best powers but allowed herself to be overshadowed by guys with knives coming out of their hands and chicks who could look like other people. Storm controlled the weather for crap's sake, you'd think she'd be the boss. And now that Halle Berry is playing her, I care about her even less. You'll notice that her and cyclops are the two most boring characters in the movies. You don't give a sh!t about them. It's always "ok get to the other people k thnx".

GotBeer?
6th Apr 2006, 08:45 AM
I always thought Wolverine and Gambit were two of the coolest characters, but I'd also put Iceman in there. Maybe it was the old "Spidey and Friends" cartoons, but I always thought being able to freeze **** and make your own roads was cool. I mean, you're pretty much making your own rollercoaster ride as you go along. Plus, I like the cold. People always say to me, "Why are you wearing shorts? It's 10 below out here!" and I say, "That's why I'm wearing shoes."

Mister_Prophet
6th Apr 2006, 08:53 AM
Freezing stuff is really cool. Though as far as powers go, I'd prefer that healing ability. I'd do the most insane stuff. Like speed down the street in my car at 100 miles per hour and then suddenly jump out and tackle an old lady. And I'd be ok.

GotBeer?
6th Apr 2006, 10:14 AM

With the exception of Luke I'd agree whole-heartedly with all of them. They're all so yawn-worthy. Luke was quite a bit cooler though (he did have a cool dad afterall).

On another note, I never really liked Storm. She had the best powers but allowed herself to be overshadowed by guys with knives coming out of their hands and chicks who could look like other people. Storm controlled the weather for crap's sake, you'd think she'd be the boss. And now that Halle Berry is playing her.

Although I still always did like Storm (almost as a favourite), I agree. I thought she was criminally underused...bar the odd claustrophobia/loss of control she was far too reserved. Gold team leader. Wow.

And what is it with Halle Berry amplifying that into boredom x12? You can just see the potential there in the first movie in that one moment where she walks past those windows and they shatter whilst lightning and comes from her eyes and dances around her...

The multiple-tornados were alright, but it was quite detached and also the one pilot just bloody flew through them for a couple of minutes...other than that she just made a room a bit chilly.

You'd think in the age of global warming and mass meteorological disaster that someone would have realised the potential for a great sequence there, but nope. A nice giant stormy maelstrom in 3, please.

Storm's always been one of the neglectable characters. Casting Hell-Berry as Storm killed storms character entirely. Anyone seen catwoman? Berry has the looks but there it ends. Actors who solely rely on their looks should change into the porn business. This way everyone wins.

Mister_Prophet
6th Apr 2006, 10:35 PM
I agree about Storm's "power" scenes in the movies. It was as if they had to make her shoot lightning or make tornados at certain points just to remind the audience that she has powers too.

Seconded for "Its Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends! Iceman and Firestar!"

Enough of this Beast and Gambit talk, the fact that imdb has someone playing Jamie Madrox in the cast list for the movie is much cooler. Not spotted him in any trailers or promos though so I guess its just going to be a cameo.

Killing cyclops usually turns out to be a bad thing. You need a stiff leader guy for the Wolverine types to play off of otherwise they just get a bit boring.

"Hey guys I'm the antagonist who always winds up those moral types! Who's going to argue with me about issues?"

*tumbleweed*

"Oh, well, lets just carry on with most of my interesting character traits nullified due to lack of opposition."

I know you just didn't inadvertantly say Leonardo is a straight edge cockfag.

Leonardo's only function is to give the place a dust every now and then and to help Splinter in and out of the bath. Which is why some countries mistakenly translated it as Teenage Mutant Careworker Turtles.

In fact now I think of it, a cross between Grey's Anatomy and Turtles would be really interesting...

well if Apocolyspe and mister sinister teamed up with mastermold and magneto (evil magneto) and really though about it they could do something on a universal scale. Especially using people like onslaught, juggernaut, and the other heavy hitters it would be over. I liked Raph the most as well.
