View Full Version : Ping more of a factor than i originally thought?

Well i decided i'd play an offline "Instant Action" game in UT2k4...
normally in Instagib CTF i would have my ass handed to me and get like 2 frags...
i have a screenshot of me + 2 bots vs 4 bots all on adept and check my score...

I actually found out by this match i can hit a moving target...
although adept bots don't really "dodge" as such it just shows that with 200 ping it can mean a world of difference...
(Being in Australia with a 512 d/l connection doesn't really help my ping...)

I think this would be better in the Unreal Tournament 2004 forum, that's where all the people who play that game post about it are.

lol
what i meant is they don't jump around like crazy making them harder to hit...
hopefully we'll get a superfast (ADSL 2) connection soon so i ping approx. 50 on American servers =D

You can't compare bots to human players.

nah... bots are crap at dealing out hitscan and avoiding it. They love to stop and crouch when you start peppering them with any hitscan... silly things.
Though ping does make a big difference. I'm an admin on Titan and play a lot of TAM. I used to play exclusivley on our UK servers. When I started to play on servers closer to home that I actually ping well on, I noticed a big difference. (note: I've also got a really turd connection that doesn't help when playing longdistance)
But no, you can't compare bots to humans at all. Dumb as bricks and all they do is follow blindly in a DM environment.
