View Full Version : Jailbreak 2004 map beta testing on the Mothership

29th Jan 2006, 07:50 AM
To support our mappers I have added 4 beta maps to our MotherShip ( server:

- JB-Collateral-Beta1 (http://forums.beyondunreal.com/showpost.php?p=1988747&postcount=29) (Hazel)
- JB-Deck17-Beta1 (http://forums.beyondunreal.com/showpost.php?p=1950266&postcount=52) (Rob)
- JB-Isolated-Beta5b (http://forums.beyondunreal.com/showpost.php?p=1953728&postcount=118) (Spoon/Lecter)
- JB-StalwartXLClassic-Beta1 (http://forums.beyondunreal.com/showpost.php?p=1987967&postcount=1) (4WD)

I had to rename JB-Deck17.ut2 to JB-Deck17-Beta1.ut2 to avoid possible mismatches with the upcoming final version. So please do the same before you join the MotherShip else you'd be unable to play that one map on our server.

For those who like to grab all maps in one file I have uploaded a zip to rapidshare: http://rapidshare.de/files/12088259/jb2004_betamaps_29012006.zip.html

So ... when do we meet for some betatesting folks? :D

29th Jan 2006, 08:24 AM
Sorry, do I know you?

I'll certainly give these a go.

I accept no responsability for stillness of Sliths. IIRC that's what will happen if you don't make some changes with the Ed.

29th Jan 2006, 09:30 AM
Any chance of getting Egypt up there for playtesting?

29th Jan 2006, 11:11 AM
Thanks sexmachine :) how about we arrange a beta test next week sometime - Wednesday / Thursday?

29th Jan 2006, 12:53 PM
So ... when do we meet for some betatesting folks? :D
now ?

30th Jan 2006, 04:45 AM
Yay! Good news.
Pick a date & I'll make a news post :)

30th Jan 2006, 08:35 AM
I had to rename JB-Deck17.ut2 to JB-Deck17-Beta1.ut2 to avoid possible mismatches with the upcoming final version. So please do the same before you join the MotherShip else you'd be unable to play that one map on our server. For the sliths the mapname is hardcoded in the map itself.
Zed Maestro had the same problem with his beta-versions of Grudge. It means: if you change the mapname, you have to change the hardcoded mapname in the map using UED (or you must have the JB-Deck17.ut2 in your map directory too). So I excpect the sliths to be static now ...
If so, maybe another beta version could be made (beta2) in which this is corrected?

30th Jan 2006, 10:56 AM
i'll b there too. how about thursday?

30th Jan 2006, 11:06 AM
I may be there any Thursday or Friday, at normal Lockdown time (21:00 here...)
Wednesday isn't a good day for me... ;)

I'd like to test Egypt online, too... :(, and maybe the big TheDecks too, if a lot of people joins...

30th Jan 2006, 11:13 AM
Is everyone available on Thursday or Friday at 8pm UK time (9pm europe)?

30th Jan 2006, 11:34 AM
Definetly not here friday, got work. but might be around on thursday

30th Jan 2006, 12:09 PM
Thursday at lockdown time sounds good to me, I'll be there. :)

@The_Head: I was thinking about adding Egypt aswell but I did not because of the seperate TeamSpecificActors_v2.u file (admins horror) - any chance to put this actor into MyLevel (hopefully with Jrubzjeknf permission)?

30th Jan 2006, 02:09 PM
I have permission to do so, unless he has changed my mind.
He orignally started coding it for this map and it evolved from there, Most people should have the file anyway.

But I can do a new version with it included ifI research how to some time

31st Jan 2006, 11:55 AM
this is mentioned on the BuF front page and mentions listing all the required files. Just put down the u file as a required file and it will be fine.

31st Jan 2006, 12:11 PM
Yes, please make sure the first post in this thread has all the required files, otherwise people will get p*ssed off :(

31st Jan 2006, 04:22 PM
I've got class until 3:30 (20:30 GMT) but I'll try to join in after that, hope to see you all there.

2nd Feb 2006, 08:46 AM
We need links to the relevant forum threads for each map too. I don't see the one for Deck17.

2nd Feb 2006, 01:39 PM
While viewing a single post you should be able to see a link and the title of the full thread in the upper right corner. Give it a try! :)

2nd Feb 2006, 02:48 PM
Server refused to send 'UTvote51'

I cannot find this anywhere on the net, the highest version I've found so far is 50.

2nd Feb 2006, 02:56 PM
Check the lockdown page for the required files.

2nd Feb 2006, 03:05 PM
Server refused to send 'UTvote51'
Damn, this shouldn't happen - I'll look into this tomorrow, thanks for telling!

Link to 51 on the lockdown page :)

3rd Feb 2006, 10:54 AM
I had great fun yesterday with the beta testing, thanks :D
Most "bugs" will probably be known already, but that doesn't matter ;)

about the ut2vote and other missing files, I googled it and got it here (http://www.unrealadmin.org/forums/showthread.php?p=64559#post64559)

now the maps:

The deck and stalwart maps aren't really jailbreak proof yet.
One of the main flaws with deck is the fact that playerstarts are random, and I think that the red/blue jail should be switched. Something has to be done at the release switch camping as well. You could easily hide at the red base behind those crates. Kralls were a bit buggy
This one needs most work, but I think it would be better if it was changed to deck-32...

Stalwart has a cool execution scene
The only thing that bothered me was the weapon placement difference at the red and blue switch. Red could defend easier I think. It's a cool map to play jb on tho.

Collateral is a very cool map. the arena is awesome but it might be a tad too big. I didn't notice anything bad at it tbh except for the fact you could shoot at the skyboxwall.

Isolated has a very good outside layout, but I think some things have to change. You can shoot through the jaildoors. I don't know if this is supposed to but it would be kinda weird if the last enemy player gets killed by a jailed player. The area at the release switches is a bit cramped. I noticed when I was last player that everyone just stood in the way of the switch and I couldn't reach it . Maybe there should be 2 entrances at the front or something. You could also hide in the water under the bridge pretty easily.

3rd Feb 2006, 12:07 PM
Collateral rocks. Nuff said.

Stalwart needs a little balancing weapon-wise. It's too DM orientated placement wise at the moment.

Isolated. Sorry couldn't get it :(

Deck will be good when it's fixed. Although I think I'd prefer a back-to-back version like on old JB.

Sorry, nothing very important there. Hands are too cold to type. :)

RevBillyG aka Wylde :p

Collateral- its already been said, it rocks!

Isolated- a good map for JB i think, but its too cramped inside, and the locks are too easily defended and the FPS is bad. everything else tho...layout, the look etc.. rocks.

Deck- i dont think it should be for JB, it wasnt working for me, i didnt know where i was , i thought the layout should of changed for JB, i agree the jails need switching maybe and ofcorse weapon placement needs a thought. the kralls didnt do anything :S and i even saw one escape into the map !!!

Stalwart - again i dont think its for JB , the layout needs changing abit for it to work i think. the weaponplacement was bad, i didnt even find a weapon in the arena lol! the only thing i liked was the execution, that was amazing. i didnt expect it , and it was really cool. oh yeah dont forget about that bug in the corner of the jails..

i think this little beta test showed to me, that original maps are the best and conversions etc... dont really work. very few do.

I really missed it thursday... Got home arround ten and the server was empty :(

5th Feb 2006, 06:13 AM
Server refused to send 'UTvote51' The UT2004 redirect server from DefCon is not working atm. (should be back up soon) - I have changed a value in the server INI to eliminate the problem with UT2Vote. Thanks again for telling.

6th Feb 2006, 03:15 AM
Do you guys plan another betatesting night ?

6th Feb 2006, 03:51 AM
Isolated will need testing again, and if your Deck17 has base changes it should get another run too.
Perhaps we can wait until GLecter's Deck17 is ready for online testing too?

6th Feb 2006, 04:36 AM
I'll probably have another beta ready today or tomorrow - mainly bug fixes and tweaks. :)

6th Feb 2006, 07:52 AM
Let's wait until a new beta of each map is released. (Collateral - Isolated - Deck17 ;))
TheDecks is ready to test since the layout and placement are likely to be final. It shouldn't be any problem in adding the new beta to the MotherShip since the TeamSpecificBlockingVolume was myLevel-ed. :D
It would also be good testing Egypt...

6th Feb 2006, 08:40 AM
Well I finished doing the stuff i wanted to do to isolated. I'm gonna sleep now, just needa test it tomorrow and fix anything ive screwed up :)

21st Feb 2006, 06:15 PM
download here (www.unrealized-potential.com/files/Maps/JB-Egypt-finalbeta.7z)

Egypt final beta. should all be fine, just wanting to test it online with players.
The .u file is now embedded into the map.

22nd Feb 2006, 03:48 PM
The new beta of Isolated and Egypt are now on the mothership.

When's a good time to have a testing session?

22nd Feb 2006, 04:10 PM
Any evening except Friday. Unless my gf is over or I have loads of homework, if I know a day in advance I'm ok.

Saturday would be good.

Just a great thought of something I want to try on Egypt.
remeber this thread (http://forums.beyondunreal.com/showthread.php?t=138294) (first topic on shared jails iirc)
and [pst 12 in particular:
Unless the blue team make a long line of people blocking the exit .

I reckon it will only take 4-5 players to make a nice blockade ;)

27th Feb 2006, 03:17 AM
*bumpity bump*

We gonna do another Beta test or not?

27th Feb 2006, 10:37 AM
yes plz :D

Would be good :) missed the first ones.. (I'm mostly unavailable during the weekends :( )

1st May 2006, 10:15 AM
Two questions: What maps are ready for another betatest like this? And when shall we meet at the mothership? :)

1st May 2006, 10:35 AM
What maps are ready for another betatest like this?- JB-Aswan-v2-Beta5 (http://forums.beyondunreal.com/showpost.php?p=2037248&postcount=73)
- JB-Atlantis-Gold (http://forums.beyondunreal.com/showpost.php?p=2043799&postcount=134)
- JB-Chrome-v2-Beta1 (http://forums.beyondunreal.com/showpost.php?p=2038021&postcount=26)
- JB-Deck17-Beta2 (http://forums.beyondunreal.com/showpost.php?p=2039212&postcount=76)
- JB-Fragtion-SE_Beta1 (http://forums.beyondunreal.com/showpost.php?p=2035066&postcount=2)
- JB-Isolated-Beta5e (http://forums.beyondunreal.com/showpost.php?p=2008203&postcount=157)
- JB-TheDecks-Beta1b (http://forums.beyondunreal.com/showpost.php?p=1994735&postcount=23)
- JB-Gael (http://forums.beyondunreal.com/showpost.php?p=2032910&postcount=1)?

And when shall we meet at the mothership? :)I'd say wait until 4WD had released a beta of Cauldron. I may release soon a new version of TheDecks with the Arena, too. :)

1st May 2006, 12:04 PM
I'd like the AlwaysArena addon testing too, but should be done separately from the maps.

GLecter: that's already a LOT of maps to test!
If you consider that we spent 30 mins on each, then 4 is the maximum before we get tired / bored I would say.

1st May 2006, 12:34 PM
that's already a LOT of maps to test!
If you consider that we spent 30 mins on each, then 4 is the maximum before we get tired / bored I would say.Aren't 15 minutes for every match?
Ehmm yes, there are a lot already. :D If you think they are too much you can pull Fragtion out for the next testing round. I'd ever like to test online the execution, arena, and the escape especially, and none of them are done or will be done soon. So if only one version of it would have to be tested, that should be beta2... :)

Edit: Best day for me is Friday or Saturday at Lockdown time, or one hour earlier... ;)

1st May 2006, 12:45 PM
Best time for me is an evening other than Friday, as I'm working.

Gael should be a pretty quick one to test, probs won't last 15 minutes on there. Although I think I have an updated version on my harddrive that we will test not the one in the thread. So far only me Rev and Jrubzejknf have it. (although I can't remermber if I backed it up before reinstalling windows :s)

1st May 2006, 01:19 PM
Maps to be tested on the mothership should be complete, and should also be a version that's been tested by individuals already.

1st May 2006, 02:14 PM
It is complete and its been tested by me rev andjrubzekjnf ;)
I'll try and find it and upload it

1st May 2006, 02:54 PM
- JB-Chrome-v2-Beta1 (http://forums.beyondunreal.com/showpost.php?p=2038021&postcount=26)-Beta2 (or -Gold) underway, depending on the bot TranslocBeacons fixed in time (first time testing with Transloc :P).
Bots shoot at the wrong point atm, and keep repeating that forever.

7th May 2006, 02:06 PM
Maps to be tested on the mothership should be complete, and should also be a version that's been tested by individuals already.TheDecks is not finished so pull it out, I'll wait till the execution is done to release a new beta, then...

Any news on the day? Next week Saturday?
