hey guys I've been getting the blue screen of death from a file called nv4_disp.dll which is a nvidia file heres a little what the screen said
A problem has been detected and windows has been shutdown to prevent damage to you computer.
The problem seems to be caused by the following file: nv4_disp.dll
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA (sometimes it says this sometimes it dont)
I've done all the steps on sreen that it listed but nothing works. I ran every test there is possible still nothing. It happens every time a play any game.
Does anyone know how to fix this without re-formatting.

Have you tried to install a Nvidia-driver again ?

But to keep it clean and first remove the old driver. No need to overwrite any allready existing files, it can get messy if something goes just a tiny bit wrong.
And remember newer is almost every time better ;) www.nvidia.com

Yeah when i got the blue screen, i had to get my whole hard drive re done. It sucked.

well since its a video card issue it should be fixable by removing the old drivers and installing new ones. If its happening only when you go to play games then its an issue with the direct x calls in the driver for the card.

i didn't need to format my drive when my drive corrupted.
it's neat having windows on D:\ while C: takes all the beating.

You might have to go into the registry to delete everything.

lol! Thats kinda like the super secret Alt+f4 cheat built into most games right?
Or the manual virus.

To prevent to damage your computer?
Do you have uninstalled your previous card before putting the new one?
What is your video card?
Latest drivers?
GPU temperature? (if you got a fan on it.)

can anyone tell me why I cant play a good solid 5 or more hours of play without having these and a few more pop up. I just did a fresh install and it still does it. Sorry I havent replied in a while and it might be a little while to reply again. (having internet problems)

Malloc...
you got a memory problem !!!
It could be a virtual memory problem however. How much space do you have on your windows drive, and how much space is virtual memory set to take up?
If all else fails, lower your detail to minimum. Looks ugly, but you want to play for a length and can drop detail for it right?

I have a 1GB of mem and another 1GB of dual channel coming today. And I have now Idea how much virtual mem. How do I go about finding that out? And just to say it I cant lower detail, because i;m a detail freak I like looking at things thats purdy.

whats the desired virtual mem that would work the best. I currently go it on
Minimum of 2MB
Max of 128MB
where it was listed in the thousands

that's too little. My virtual memory's min is 666mb and max is 1666mb. on each drive.

Just a thought but once you have a lot of Physical Memory, wouldn't Virtual Memory be rather pointless? I would think after a gig or so, it would matter ... just curious there.
