[see post #5 for THE BEST FREE stuff]
I'm copying a post here cuz I thought it would be helpful to those of us mapper / newb / wannabes : (Note: I realize this info might be elsewhere around here and I apologize up front)
http://www.3dbuzz.com
http://www.planetunreal.com/architectonic/first_level.html
3d Buzz has tutorials on UED 3 and other programs you would be using (Like Maya, 3ds max etc.) Some tutorials are free and can be downloaded. Also the community there seems very helpful.
I'm new to mapping myself...If you are able to afford $20 for the UT2004 "2 disc" dvd edition, there are several hours worth of Tutorials on disc #2...pretty involving and easy to follow. Heres some screens:
Added Note: For Those of you $$$ challenged or are just stingy (like me) : PLEASE READ POST #5 in this forum to see how to get these SAME tutorials - along with a LOT MORE regarding UED3 for FREE.

Don't Expect replies....Just looking to give a new person (like me) a starting point.
Peace!

;) Yeah "free" is the best way to go if possible. The video tutorials were simple, easy-to-follow, and gave me a good foundation with the editor.
....As opposed to digging through forums, hunting down things and so forth. I don't have THAT much time on my hands! I'd rather spend a little $$$ to get EXACTLY what I'm looking for.
Peace.

You may need to get the free divx player here: http://www.divx.com/
There are 2 ways to view the tutorial: Either click on the "cd_video mag" application and watch it with the DIVX extension, or go to the folder named media and click on the (large) avi video - which can be viewed with windows media player. Hope this helps. Let me know if you are still having problems.

You also may consider getting a Mastering Unreal Technology : The Art of Level Design (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0672326922/qid=1135871719/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_1/002-1462095-4708823?n=507846&s=books&v=glance) book. I got it for a friend as a Christmas present.
