View Full Version : So I played the XBox 360...

I work at Best Buy, and XBox 360 stuff went on sale today. We've had a demo set up in the back, and it just went out today. So what do I think?

Well, the demo disc had quite a few games on it (including the new Perfect Dark) and I haven't had a chance to go over all of them yet. But the overwhelming impression I get when I play these games is: "If you liked Xbox, you'll like Xbox 360." I know it sounds stupid, but there's no other way to describe it.

It's the same old stuff the last Xbox stuff had, only better. No revamps, no new creativity, just the same gameplay every other Xbox title has had only better looking and faster.

That isn't to say it's not a ton of fun to play. I mean, particularly in the new Madden game (2k6), the graphics are tremendous, and definately add to the experience as a whole. In Perfect Dark, everything is crisp and clear, and there is virtually no sign of slowdown or loadtimes (except while booting). Huge enviroments are displayed at whim, and the volumetric fog looks better than ever.

Pretty cool stuff, and a mighty beast in the graphical department indeed. But I still dont think this will be enough to sway me from buying a new laptop this season instead of a console.

Interesting.

What I don't understand: Why do people buy a console in addition to their gaming PC?

Because of different games?
The fun factor you have playing with your friends in front of the TV?

I prefer playing on a console, because then I can hang out on my couch with a few friends while looking at a TV and some drinks left of me on the table. I can not do that with PC. Plus PC games aren't that good anymore.

360, guess I will get one eventually. But I thought xbox was pretty crappy so I will wait untill there are atleast 2 games that I already know I will love (Oblivion is one).

Because it is refreshing to see games that actually work without having to fiddle with drivers and pray to the gods of starfarce ...

Ghost Recon 3 looks bloody lovely. Alas, it's been pushed back till Feb06.

Not too sure what you mean. As compared to which year of Madden? I don't even think I played 2k5.

I can't even remember the last time I put a game on my PC and it didnt work first time.... Not like the old days of DOS.

So, as of 4:30PM today, we have about 6 people lining up outside of our store (BestBuy) for the 360. :360:
