Recently I poseted a thread over at Atari [see link] regarding a few bot mods that used to be available in UT2003. Rumor has it that they have been recompiled in 2004.

I know this post isnt appropriate for this particular thread but ProAsm figured Id find out more in this neighborhood.

I got your file (serverbots) and will test it out as soon as possible. THanks for the quick response... If anyone has a copy of BullSh*t....let me know. For the life of me I cannot find that mod anywhere online..

Fair enough! I hope the following gives you a clear picture...

[What I did]
1)Started a normal server and logged on
2) played for a while - everything seemed normal
3) added serverbots mut from Webadmin consol, restarted level
4) several bots appeared to join the level with me

[Problem]
The game began as normal but immediately acted as though I had lost my connection.
1)The guns blasted but no bullets marked the wall.
2) I could swan dive off the map but never die after falling
3) lifts, pickups, and other action items seemed to ignore me
4) bots were no where to be seen
5) Using WEBADMIN - I switched maps... the server and webadmin showed the map switch, but my character just stood there in the old map... no disconnect notice... no sign of life from the server whatsoever

I tested several maps, all with the same results.

Okay I setup shov's recompiled version of "sbots" and gave it a good testing. For the most part, things look pretty good. I have questions about the following though:

With the settings :
StartGame=True
StartDelay=1
The map never starts, at least not until someone joins. Shouldnt it auto start a match with the bot(s) specified?

When the map is running, and one customized 'sbot' is running around waiting for players to join... the serverbrowser shows the server as empty. It would be nice if it showed the custom bot as a "single player"; [so as to prevent being filtered out as an "empty server"]

with the setting:
EntryTime=1
The bot joins immediately after the match starts [a dead give away that a bot joined] Shouldnt this setting allow about 1 minute to pass before the bot joins the match?

A few times when the bot won a match, its skin would change to another skin [in the final 3rd person score-screen]. Hard to reproduce that one though

Bot setting Ping=3... reality throughout the match: 130 (slight fluctuation)


Like I said, all in all it works pretty well. Just are just a few quirks I noticed.
