I was looking at the join months and noticed a few that were close to each other. Why is this? I joined up shortly after I was accepted into the XMP beta phase.

You won't get any valuable information with that post since the first 2 choices will get more votes for obvious reasons :p
I've registered this account in January 2002, but I had another one I used once in the late PuF days.

I think a lot of them might be around November (give or take a month or so), because that's when UT/UT2003 showed up.

I originally joined PuF on April 6 as Sgt Lonewulf, but I'd been a member of the UTUG forums since march of that year (which got pulled into Forum Planet, so...). I re-registered as _Zd_Synastren_ at my current join-date, instead of just asking an admin to change it. But I did ask to get the tag dropped after I left Zd. :B

OMFG I forgot
6 years is a long time :-)
[EDIT] I'm not sure, but I think that puts me in the running for the longest-servering regular PuF/BuF poster...

The poll choices would have worked out better if every choice was a pair of months, for a total of 6 choices. :p
Oh, and Happy BuFday Sel!

The crash occurred in mid-2003 while the last complete backup was in March of 2002.
I'm pretty sure that the forum is backed up at regular intervals now.

It'll be completely unexpected, they'll be loling for hours as we wander around the buf wasteland, lost and confused...

Ooops... there i go bringing up the subject of forum crashes and the power takes down the site for most of the day (well, in UK anyway..)
It was like earlier, after making cheese sauce for pasta and cheese sauce, that i joked ' - opened cupboard, joked 'heres where i find out we have no pasta' - and oh ****e, we have no pasta.

This morning BuF was timing out for me (on DirecWay, then on a local college T1), and when it came back up it was really sluggish up until about twenty minuteso ago :con:

There is a notice on the main page of BU from RaptoR:
As reported here, the entire Cogent Network (of which BeyondUnreal is part) was down today from 10:30 AM EST for just under five hours, meaning BeyondUnreal mail, hosted sites and forums were unavailable during at period. This downtime was due to fiber cuts in New Orleans and Washington DC.
Presently the problem seems to be corrected, and network availability is back to normal

Ah...well then I should check the main page every now and then.
And I betcha at 10:30AM EST some telecom engineer went "OH SNAP" when they cut the fiber. Because the fiber snapped. You can stop making fun of me now.
