sorry, someone had to post it.

How you would respond No if you didn't speak english...and then how would you be reading BuF? that rivals the Chicken and the Egg quandary

Yeah, I think the "English??? What??" option is obsolete. But, then again, it's not like no other poll has included completely random answers.

What geometric shape would you be...penny arcade.

Aw förlåt, jag talar bara lite dåliga svenska ;)

In seriousness, I have much respect for the people who have taken on English as their second language and are just diving in in regular conversation, often with excellent results

I don't think the 'basic' category is really relevant. I mean, where i leave, anybody that's able to read and understand BuF OT would at least fall into the 'intermediate' category. [insert joke about the French here]

Nah, you still speak english. However I understand your need to remove yourself from anything having to do with that horrible.... well you know where. ;)

Out of curiosity, what's wrong with England now?

I still identify as speaking American English, mainly to acknowledge that I speak a generally slaughtered version of true English. (Although, they say that the mid-western accent is the purest form of English... ^_^ )

Just a side note- I think the internet proves that the category "English is my first language" should not be considered the most advanced. There are some very horrid EFL speakers.

Yes I speak English as my 2nd language, but I'm not that good. There still are discussions here that lose me in about 15 sentences. I'd like to join in some of the political threads, but due to the lack of good words to get my point across I often don't. People tend to misunderstand me then.

I wish I could speak/write English like 3s.

Of course I speak English. First language infact. I've got a full British accent that far too many Europeans/Americans lust over (urgh!).

English speaker from the Midwest here. And I don't think it's that we speak the 'purest' form of English, it's just easier to understand us because we don't accent it.

Well....to southern people, you DO have a accent. If you don't talk like the south does, then you have the accent. I know when I first moved down to Florida, people were like "JHEY, you talk funneh n stuff. yall". I said, "No, I talk like a real human being. Not some cracker ass freak like you"

Not only do I speak English but I try my best to read up on English history so that I am not like 90% of our idiotic population. Have any of you ever read about the War of the Roses for instance? Pretty intense if you ask me. Perhaps I am paranoid that if I am ever questioned on camera something like "Do you know where Europe is?" I don't want to say "West?" and then a billion people see it and my whole nation is the laughing stock of the planet. (America anyone?) ;)

Not just an ESL student here, but ironically, even though I'm ESL, I'm skipping one year ahead, passing AP English and moving on to AP English Literature.

Not to mention the other three languages that I am fluent in. Spanish (Spain/Mexico/Guatemala dialect), Chinese (Mandarin-Traditional dialect), and Japanese.

Yeah, I think the "English??? What??" option is obsolete.

HA! D'you still remember that one option that read, "I like toast"?

I grew up in Italy, and though my parents are American, I'm not quite sure if english was my first language or not. I went to Italian nursery school, and some elementary, so I'm not really sure. I do know I used to speak it fluently, and think in Italian though. No accent on either.

Hm, same here, I think in English, but the first thing that comes out of my mouth by instinct is Chinese (Mandarin dialect), so I always have to re-translate my English thoughts to English dialogue so I can speak it out...-_-
