I sent a query to David Welsh, President of Everglide, and received an updated Press Release in response:

EverGlide Extends Price-Cuts
Sale of Top Branded Pads Continues through May

Unreal Tournament, Half-Life, QuakeIII, and Razer join the EverGlide stable

San Francisco, CA - /news@everglide.com/May 8, 2000 - EverGlide.com, Inc.,
the creators of the popular EverGlide Mousing Surface www.everglide.com, (http://www.everglide.com,)
announced today that it will extend its sale of top branded mousing surface
through May 30, 2000. "The response has been unbelievable", said Joannie
Barns, EverGlide Fulfillment Division Manager. "Gamers had requested these
brands, but the response has been much greater than we had anticipated, so
were extending our sale and cutting prices by 20%."

The new brands offered by EverGlide.com include images from several of the
top gaming publishers, distributors and product manufacturers in the Gaming
sector including: id Software-QuakeIII, Epic Games-Unreal Tournament, Sierra
Studios-Half-Life, and Karna LLC-Razer Boomslang.

Prices are being cut on these long awaited brands and virtually ALL its
other premium products. The new pads also feature a concave ergonomic
design, sleek micro-beveled edging, and pebble-textured surface. All were
developed in response to suggestions from hundreds of gamers worldwide.

Unlike conventional mouse pads, which crack, peel, fade and become frayed
the tough, washable EverGlide Mousing Surface feature a unique surface that
allows for incomparable glide-ability and pixel-splitting accuracy with
every move.

With consumers, increasingly frustrated with the high cost of having to
frequently replace worn and soiled mouse pads, demand for a long lasting,
age resistant mouse pad has increased.

Introduced at COMDEX '97, the EverGlide Mousing Surface has received the
Four Star Award from Computer Gaming World, an Editors Choice Award from
Blue's News, and high-ranked reviews from PC Gamer, ComputerWorld, GameWeek,
and Boot Magazine. In addition, dozens of online gaming news, hardware, and
clan sites have endorsed the EverGlide as a great product for first person
shooters that require pinpoint control.

Note: When visiting the Everglide site, I noticed that the Q3 pad has replaced the UT pad as one of the top sellers. You guys gonna sit still for that? ;)

I don't know how many of you guys use an Everglide, but I can't live without mine :)

It came with my Falcon Talon, and I would never use another gaming surface after mousing on this thing

I'd really like the black UT pad - it'd complement the grey Intellimouse Explorer. I'm still on the fence about whether to spring for it or not; my special limited edition blue one looks brand new after a simple cleaning.

lol. Hey, if you're using the *same* *exact* computer and the *same* *exact* components you had in school, more power to ya. But I know I personally upgrade whenever I can. The dedicated gaming mouse pads are just that; an upgrade.

Let's not fool ourselvs - the optical mouse was a quantum leap forward in playing performace, the real upgrade. But let's also give credit where credit is due; the dedicated gaming mousing pads (I personally know about the Everglide Giganta, but have read good things about Ratzpadz) give an extra edge over, say, something you got when you got gas. Really. Try one and then let us know what you think.

So just out of curiousity, has anyone ordered a UT pad? I just sprang for System Shock 2 to play MP with a couple of other guys and finished cleaning out my gaming budget until next payday, so the pad will have to wait...
