The mission's Flyby and Impactor spacecraft are bearing down on their target, Comet Tempel 1, with less than 225,000 miles (362,102 kilometers) separating them from the icy object. Impactor is set to slam into Tempel 1 at 1:52 a.m. EDT (0552 GMT) on July 4.

Space jocks are going to slam a vehicle into a comet. I won't be able to see it directly, but will be watching the coverage. If you live in the western part of north america, you should be able to see it with the naked eye if you know where to look.
